Most of the companies I spoke to quoted me hourly rates, but moving from Los Angeles to San Diego you can never really be sure of the traffic conditions-- there are unexpected delays all the time. Excalibur quoted be a flat rate. "This much to do your move from end to end" which was refreshing. The price was competitive, the crew were professional and friendly, and all my stuff got where it needed to go, safely, intact, with minimal worry or intervention on my part. 10/10 would use these guys again!!
