One way rental- Truck mileage miscalculated. I made the mistake of filling the tank to be sure I would make it to my destination without adding additional miles. I called corporate and the local uhaul office. The kid on the phone at the local office gave me the wrong information about gas reimbursement. When I arrived, Steve, told me that I spoke to someone else from corporate and I explained that it was the person who picked up in Ithaca. He said I was wrong, meanwhile the kid who picked up the phone stood there, not admitting his mistaken information. Steve was very rude and refused to take responsibility for the simple miscommunication on behalf of his staff person. Too bad, it could have gone very differently. Nothing worse than feeling like I have to have a fight to get things sorted out. I would have been ok with a simple miscommunication but zero responsibility was taken. Dishonest and stressful.

Last month we returned a U-Haul truck in Ithaca, NY, a day after renting it out in Brooklyn. When handing over the car in Ithaca, we were made to pay $180 in "damages" for a graffiti located on the side of the truck - even though the graffiti was clearly there when we had rented the car. We have since contacted the company with A PHOTO SHOWING THE GRAFFITI WAS ALREADY THERE on the day of the rental, and have never even gotten as much as a reply.
