Port Charlotte store rented a defective car towing trailer to me to pull behind the truck for my move up to Michigan. Car was moving and tipping on the trailer due to rusted out ratchet straps and mechanism. Waited 5 hours for roadside assistance, and was forced to stay overnight in Gainesville only 3 hours into my trip because the part had to be replaced. All in all, I spent about $900 for the rental and the hotel room. Even after the ratchet had been replaced the next day, the mechanic advised I should drive slower and check the security of the car every couple of hours, which extended my driving time, not to mention their speedometer shows you are driving about 4 MPH faster than you actually are. When I finally got to Michigan, they had the nerve to charge me $361 because I had the truck for 2 extra days! I had to haggle with Budget for nearly 2 weeks to get any compensation, and of the $1261 I had been charged, I got only $741 back. Did I mention that I was driving alone, and am a 60 year old woman? Budget dodged a huge lawsuit had that car tipped over off the trailer, which would have caused untold damage and injury to anybody next to or behind me on the road, not to mention myself. Would highly recommend NOT using Budget for your rentals. EVER.

I rented a truck from them 11 days in advance and gave my credit card as a deposit. They called me in less than 24hrs from my scheduled pick up and told me they could not provide the truck I ordered. They did not do much to try and resolve the problem either. I went to U Haul, and will be going there from now on.

The guys that work here always greet me by name. They go above and beyond. They always provide quick service. The cars are always clean and fully fueled. I rent a lot and can tell you this place is the best around.
