When the movers arrived on Tuesday, November 30th, they arrived in a 26’ U-Haul that was rented from the local ACE Hardware. I had to go pick up packing blankets, plastic wrap and tie down straps. To their credit, the crew of 3 worked quickly and packed the truck in just a few hours. The following day we received a text message from the driver requesting an immediate call back due to an emergency. My wife called the driver who indicated that he had been in an accident shortly after they departed and that he was currently in the hospital with a concussion. He was distraught during the call and was not able to provide any further information at the time. My wife called the Atlanta EkoMovers office who indicated that they were not aware of any issues with our truck. My wife then called the Corporate office and advised the receptionist of the circumstances, who indicated that she would look into it and call us back. We received a call from Thomas at the Atlanta office shortly thereafter and were advised that there was no damage and that the truck with our belongings was back on the road enroute to Atlanta. We started to sense that something was wrong at this point but didn’t have enough information at the time to form an opinion. On Thursday, Dec. 2nd, I contacted the local ACE Hardware where the U-Haul truck was rented. The Manager advised me that they had received notification that the truck had been in an accident on Tuesday, shortly after departing our home. He advised me that the truck was reported on its side and that a tow truck was required to get the vehicle upright, but he was unable to ascertain the extent of any damages or the exact location of the truck at that time. After speaking with the Manager of ACE Hardware, my wife called the EkoMovers Atlanta office and was immediately sent to voicemail. She then called the Corporate office and spoke with Rachel who would said she would look into our case. Rachel called back and advised us that there had in fact been a minor fender bender and there was some minor damage to some of our furniture. On Saturday, December 4th, I was contacted by the ACE Hardware Manager and advised that the U-Haul truck had sustained substantial damage in the accident (that it did in fact roll over on its side) and had been towed to a yard about an hour north of where we lived. At this point, we had no reason to believe anything that we were being told by EkoMovers and started to prepare for the real possibility that we might have to replace everything we owned. When the truck arrived at our home in Georgia on December 10th we still weren't sure what to expect. When they opened the back of the truck it looked like the truck had been shaken like a snow globe. After the truck was unloaded my wife spent over an hour on the phone with the Atlanta office who were only interested in collecting final payment. They eventually agreed to discount our move a little over 10%. I want to emphasize that this is not just about replacing our damaged furniture, I understand that accidents happen. The reason that I am writing this is because the management team lied to us and it wasn’t until we started piecing together the story from other sources, that they began to be honest with us. At the end of the day, we lost several pieces of brand-new furniture, as well as a number of other smaller pieces that had sentimental value. The remaining furniture and our new appliances all have cosmetic damage but are still functional. Fortunately, most of our belongings that were packed in boxes made it. 3 weeks later and we still have not been told how to file a claim and EkoMovers just does not respond to calls or emails. As far as I can tell, the management team with the Atlanta office has zero regard for their customers and a complete lack of integrity. Use them at your own risk.

I took time to write this review because the more I unpacked the worse it got. If I could leave negative stars I would. This moving company was the WORST EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD. First they cancelled on me the night before my move. I rescheduled for a few days later and they tried to charge me the exact same price after telling me I could get a discount for the inconvenience. 3 men came to move my 1 bedroom apartment and I needed them to pack the dishes in the kitchen. 5 hours later the kitchen has not been touched and there’s still a LOT of things in the apartment still left. My tv was still mounted on the wall. When they were unloading into the new apartment, my 200.00 tv stand was dropped off the truck and broken, brand new dresser for my bedroom is all scratched, washer and dryer all scratched and dented up, and the leg on my metal table bent, among other little things broken. After I called and told the owner Jamie about the issues I had, he told me to send him pictures and he would look into it. The next day he stopped answering his phone and replying to texts, so I finally had to call the office number and tell someone to contact him for me. I have yet to receive reimbursement for anything as I was made to file a claim through a third party company. I paid these people almost 1000 dollars and I was very polite and understanding throughout the whole experience. I asked them to come back the next day to finish moving the rest of the things out of my apartment, he said he would charge me 100.00 an hour and tried to charge me the truck fee. I had to hire a whole separate moving company to finish my apartment. Worst movers ever. I’m disgusted with the experience.

This is a follow up to a review that I posted a couple of months ago but unfortunately cannot be found now. Convenient. My main concern was the damage done to my refrigerator….newly refinished hardwoods were damaged as well but I didn’t move forward with the repair as I was concerned about discoloration. The 3 movers sent shoved my refrigerator that was less than a year old through a doorway that was too small and the door needed to be taken off to safely and easily get the refrigerator through. Once through, the refrigerator was placed on its side in the moving truck! On arrival they again tried to shove the refrigerator through a doorway where the door needed to be removed….doing additional damage. The so-called insurance company that Ekomovers uses (movingclaims.net) is a complete joke. I filed a claim and sent several photos of the damage along with the cost of the refrigerator and was offered $50! Movingclaims.net stated that Ekomovers felt like this was the amount they felt was reasonable. Run away from this company. They take zero responsibility for their failures.
