Ford Storage is contacted with Nebraska Furniture as a delivery service. We had just purchased a $3400 refrigerator from NFM and the original delivery went fine. In fact we had a stove, dishwasher, and dining set delivered also. Within 24 hours the refrigerator was leaking on the floor. I called NFM and they set up a refrigerator exchange. The new delivery crew showed up at the end of their delivery window around 4:00 pm. They never called when 30 minutes out as we were told and which did happen with our other NFM deliveries. When they arrived they went to the wrong house and I had to flag them down. All house numbers are clearly marked. They pulled up to my house, no greeting. I showed them where the fridge was, and they came in and started taking it apart. Then one guy hands me his phone and tells me that I need to give verbal consent to damage waiver, that if they damaged my new refrigerator or walls they would not be responsible. I said no, because I was not going to be stuck with a dented $3400 fridge or damaged walls. The supervisor asked me to hand the phone back to the delivery guy. He then said something to his partner and they went to the truck to get the parts they had removed from my fridge and put it back together. One of them handed me the phone again stating that the supervisor wanted to speak with me again. I asked why I had to sign a damage waiver when I didn’t have to when they delivered the fridge (and other appliances) a few days earlier. He stated that the delivery crew didn’t feel like there was enough room to get the fridge in without possibly causing damage. I explained that our front door was 36 inches wide and with the hinges off the door and the fridge doors removed the other crew had room to spare. After some back and forth I asked if they could assign another crew who actually knew how to deliver furniture. The super told me that he could do that, but needed to reschedule and it would take a few moments. While I was talking to the supervisor one of the delivery guys said he needed the phone back. I explained that I was still talking to the person getting a new delivery scheduled. He kept telling me to hang up and hand him the phone. I told this to the super on the other end and he said nothing. Meanwhile the delivery guy just keeps trying to get the phone and told to call the guy back on my own phone. I explained that he had given that phone to me to speak to his supervisor and I wasn’t going to hang up and screw up the reschedule. This was a nightmare with inept and rude delivery people.
