  I contacted Jewett Builders while in my due diligence period of buying a home at 170 Thayer Road Whitefield, ME 04353. They were able to come out quickly and arrived on time. It was clear right away when we were down in the crawlspace/basement area that the structural beams/sills/etc had significant rot and termite damage. They spent time answering my questions and explaining what all would be involved with this extensive, costly mitigation. I felt confident that they knew what they were doing and did a thorough job assessing what was needed to put together a quote for me to go back to the sellers with. Cathy made it a priority to get the quote to me within the day. Sadly the homeowners are trying to ignore this critical damage, not disclose the condition and I passed on buying the home. I would totally recommend this company and highly suggest having experts come out to assess vs regular inspectors as this damaged was not noted just a year prior in the previous inspection report. Thank you for helping me through this process!

  Had a great experience with Jewett Builder's when they moved my house to it's new location about 15 miles away. They were very professional and really knew their stuff. The house, including the brick chimney, suffered no damage in the move and was set perfectly on it's new foundation. I would highly recommend Jewett Builders to anyone needing structural jacking or moving services.

  I needed a rotten beam replaced in my 1830's home. Don came out promptly after I called him and assessed the situation. He was very confident his crew could do the job. He gave me an estimate and we agreed to have the work done when he could fit us in (no set date). His crew was able to come a few months later and it took them a few days to complete the work. They replaced a very large beam, working around electrical wires and water/sewer lines with precision. They demoed old brick posts and disposed of the debris. They replaced/added all new joists on both sides of the beam, added joist hangers at all connections, and supported everything with heavy duty lally columns. We asked Don to lift the floor a little where it had sagged in the middle. He warned us we might have cracks in our plaster walls, and we did, but it was worth having the house more level. He also found a leak in the basement for us and even had a plumber come out to give us an estimate. His crew left the basement very clean and they even re-attached the electrical wires to the new beam and joists. Jewett charged what was estimated and we were very with the work. The house is now well-supported and the work has added a lot of value to our home. The only downside was that our forced hot air duct system had to be disassembled for this work and Don was not able to put it back together so that will be an unanticipated project cost. Overall, Jewett Builders did an amazing job and our home will now be good to go for another 150 years! I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone who needs structural repairs.
