I used Monarch Moving Group to move from Manayunk to Franklinville, NJ on 7/26/2019 and it was an awful experience. I had another mover cancel 2 days before my scheduled move date and called Monarch. The only positive of this was their ability to get something together last minute. I was told that my move would cost $1640 total. By the time the move was complete, the total expenditure was $2558. After loading up the truck, the driver comes back into my apartment to have me sign some paperwork. It’s at this point that my bill goes off the rails. He begins going through my costs associated with this move (including the $528 I paid via credit card to book the appointment and the supposed remaining balance of $1112, which totals $1640). Suddenly I’m being charged for going over the cubic footage and various of travel related expenses that I assumed were originally rolled into the $1640 price tag, which was clearly stated AS THE TOTAL COST OF MY MOVE in an email from Monarch. With these newly discovered charges, the total cost of my move was almost $3000 to move a 1st floor, 1-bedroom, 665 square foot apartment to a single-story rancher in New Jersey. Now the fun part. The driver tells me that the price he’s coming up isn’t final until he emails someone on his end and that the price can come down if I take care of him and his guys. He says that for $300 for him and his crew, the total cost of my move would be $2558. So, on top of a $528 credit card charge to secure the move date, a $1112 cashier’s check to cover the original and supposed remaining balance, I need to get $300 cash for the crew and another $618 to satisfy the bill. Keep in mind that it’s 5:30PM in Philadelphia at this point. My Bank is now closed, so a cashier’s check is out of the question. Further, the daily limit on my ATM card is $500, which still would have left me $418 still required to satisfy this new bill. But what else can you do when all of your worldly possessions are packed into a moving truck? I acquiesce to the $300 cash payment plus $618 upon completion of the move back in New Jersey. Then before leaving, the driver tells me that he’ll get to my new house as soon as possible because THEY’RE DOING ANOTHER FULL MOVE BEFORE DROPPING MY BELONGINGS OFF. Fast forward to 8:30 PM when they finally arrive. They, rather efficiently, unload the truck and put my belongings where they were instructed. I pay the kings ransom and they leave without providing any paperwork or a final work up of my bill. The next morning, I start unpacking and find broken glassware, coffee mugs, a destroyed Christmas tree, and trophies from my childhood in numerous different boxes. I find their packing tape in several locations in my front yard as well. Honestly, this was what really drove me to write this review. While I can deal with the excess expenses that were thrown at me AFTER they had all my stuff, the broken items are truly infuriating. Be warned, anyone thinking of utilizing this company. When it was all said and done, I paid $2558 to 3 different entities: $528 in the form of a credit card payment to Monarch Moving Group; 2 Cashier’s checks for a total of $1730 had to be made payable to an entity called Stop and Move LLC; and $300 cash went to the driver and his crew, who were in a truck that didn’t bear the name of either Stop and Move OR Monarch Moving Group. If I could take stars away from the other reviews this company has, I would. That’s how terrible this entire experience was with Monarch Moving Group. Never use them. Tell your friends to never use them. You’re honestly better off burning all your possessions and starting from scratch. It’ll probably cost less than using Monarch.

Very disappointed with Monarch. They are not a reliable moving company and lack in communication. Was told by one of their reps, Adam Banks, I would receive a notice for my pickup timeframe a day or two before my scheduled pickup but was never notified by anyone and when I reached out to their drivers at Cross Country Movers the day before my pickup no one answered the phone. This led to me cancelling my services with them the day before I was scheduled for my moving pickup. Thankfully, I was still able to get my items moved out from Maryland to North Carolina with another more reliable moving company in a short notice and so everything worked out in the end.
