The Home Depot employees were nice, but the whole Penske renting experience just added a ton of more STRESS & put my move out of state almost 3 hours behind. Notice to anyone renting a truck, despite the lack of information on your email- you DO have to be on time or they WILL CANCEL your reservation. I reserved our truck 3 days before we needed it. Not realizing it at the time, I accidentally put a pick up time of the morning instead of the afternoon when we could actually pick it up. Should I call them? No, because we have a confirmation of our truck reservation & our email from Penske didn't say that we had to be there at the exact time. So we can still get the 50 or so extremely important moving tasks done beforehand, right? Show up and after waiting for the customer issues in front of me (the pick up is at Home Depot's customer service desk) we tell them we have a reservation for Penske. We then get told it was cancelled by Penske. Mind you this is the DAY BEFORE WE MOVE 4 HOURS AWAY. After about 30-40 minutes of customer service going through the Penske phone prompts & waiting for an available agent, and also myself also waiting for those prompts after about 10 minutes with the Home Depot employee getting nowhere, Penske finally apologizes and tells us there is a truck...30+ minutes away. One of the whole reasons I booked here is because it was only 10 minutes up the road and every bit of our time was essential before we moved. So my dad and I drive to another Home Depot location. After getting there we find out that the 22' truck is really a 26' truck (sounds nice with us moving, but this thing is MASSIVE so it's even more of a hassle to drive), and the battery is dead. 30 more minutes later we finally have a massive truck, and we can drive the 30+ minutes back home. So by now we're stressed out, my wife has spent the last few hours at home without my help, and because it is now much later & the truck is so massive we can't just store it at my house, we are going to have to start loading the truck TOMORROW. As in the day we are going to move. Next time we're going UHaul, I don't care how much more expensive it is.
