We hired Suddath United for our move to Western NY from SW Florida. The 3 guys they sent to pack for us called us 15 minutes before the end of their arrival time window to advise they had a flat and would be late. They were supposed to arrive between 9am-10am and showed up at almost 1pm. Stuff happens, I get it. What I don't get is the fact that because they were so late they wanted to make up the time by doing the worst packing job I have ever seen (and had the audacity to charge us over $12k for). They sent 3 guys, 1 of whom it was his 2nd time packing ever. I understand that everyone has to start somewhere. One of the others - his name was Douglas - had apparently been doing this since the 70's. Well clearly Douglas, you hate your job and maybe it's time to retire. I specifically told this gentleman repeatedly to be very careful with the pictures, as some of them are sentimental and cannot be replaced. Photos with frames and canvas prints were all just shoved into boxes with no padding (some were shoved in dresser drawers). So many damaged items it's almost laughable at this point. Just look at the pictures. The actual folks that moved/transported our stuff were not employed by Suddath. They were fantastic and I would absolutely use them again - and even they were completely shocked at the poor packing job that was done. Spices just thrown into a box, kitchen utensils just tossed in. They took a $500+ printer and put it in a box with NO packing paper, underneath a stereo system component and some office supplies. They screwed the attachment screws for a dresser mirror through the front of the mirror. I'm assuming so they wouldn't get lost. BUT you would think after the first screw you would go ‘Whoops wont' do that again.’ Nope, let's do it 3 more times. We filed a claim and got back a laughable settlement - less than 10% of the total cost of the move. And not one person from Suddath contacted us (except for the woman handling our claim) after repeated emails to our move coordinator, our sales agent, and posts on Twitter. Disgusting. DO NOT trust Suddath with your belongings.

This was a smooth move, from Florida to Chicago. The packers were diligent and careful, and the unloading team was just as fabulous. No issues to speak of, and no damages. A minor scratch here and there, but no big deal. Many thanks to all who worked to get this done.
Response from the owner

Otis, Tony and Elvardo did a great job. My move entailed three stops. It was a long day. But the crew worked diligently to get the job done. Nothing was damaged and everything got to the right location.
Response from the owner
