This company is using a shell called A to Z Valley movers, but it is really called Leo's moving Service. Know I know why. I was quoted $4,500 to move last month from San Tan Valley, AZ to Provo, UT. I was living in a 3 bedroom single family home. The owner of Leo's moving LLC came out to give me a quote. I asked if it would fit in a single 26ft moving truck. He looked around. He wrote down a list of furniture that would fit, I told him I would get rid of the rest of the furniture. After the inspection/walk-through, he told me they would get it to fit. He never said or recommended that the items wouldn't fit in one 26ft moving truck. Never warned me, just told me to have the items boxed up. Come moving day, a driver named Red showed up with two other men to load up. They informed me that all of my items would not fit. They then loaded up boxes, and took none of the furniture that was quoted to me. I was told by the driver that tipping is customary, and that it should be for thousands of dollars per mover. I ended up giving $500 to the two movers when they stood there waiting, I was told to tip the movers so that they would leave and Red would drive the truck. They left half of my stuff behind, including all but one of the pieces of furniture. I felt like I was being serviced by a sham of a service. There was only one employee and the owner. They hired random contractors that ended up dropping a box down the stairs. I was told that the remaining furniture and items would fit in one truck. I paid $4,500 to move all of my stuff, and they only moved half of it. They did not know what they were doing when they quoted that my items would be moved. I had to rent a separate truck and load the rest of my stuff the next weekend, which cost me time off work, a flight, truck rental, hotels, gas, etc. I trusted Leo's to provide a complete service for thousands of dollars, and I received half a service.

      Response from the owner

I'd like to start by giving some background on our company and the moving industry. We own two moving companies in the valley, A to Z Valley Wide Movers and Leo's Moving. A to Z Valley Wide Movers is our local company which we started around 10 years ago. Moving families from state to state requires a special license so we started Leo's Moving. To keep costs down we've developed relationships with other moving companies across the country. Depending on how big a move we have going out of state we will send 1-2 of our own employees to drive and manage the move then hire a company locally to off load our truck. 90 percent of the industry does this as it is economically feasible. We're always transparent about our practices and both these things were explained to Mr. Dickson from the beginning. Before signing any contract or before any monies change hands we explain both of these topics because if we switch a customer from a local job to a long distance job the insurance information changes, which we also explain to our clients. To address Mr. Dickson's complaint:  he called and set up a walk through. I came out to walk his home and explain how our services worked. As I walked up the driveway I was met with trash and broken furniture scattered all over the front yard and side of the house. He opened the door and I noticed his home was in the same condition. Immediately I addressed this issue with him. I was told not to worry, they would be getting rid of everything. As we walked his home, he continuously told me this isn't going, we're throwing this away, and everything will be packed and ready to go. I always take inventory on any walk through I do, so I can enter it into our software system. I had 10 pieces of furniture, a tool box and about 75 boxes on my list. I have been in the moving industry a long time and I have been in this situation many times. As I left I explained the importance of him keeping true to his word. I sent his inventory to our customer service rep to type up and prepare a contract. I explained in great detail that Mr. Dickson's home was in complete disarray and the huge hurdles he had to jump preparing for us to move his home. From my experience, I know in these situations customers set lofty goals that are rarely met and this is why we write strict contracts and why we have our clients sign them, indicating that they understand everything. With the inventory taken of just the items Mr. Dickson wished to take, we gave him the price for 1 26ft truck to Utah. We explained our recommendations and stressed he kept his word. This was the first sentence in the contract we wrote for him. He acknowledged. We would have had no issue taking everything and giving him a second truck, we make more money if we do. To save himself money he told us whatever didn't fit he would throw away or come back and get himself. With regard to our tipping policy, Mr. Dickson called our sales rep to ask what the usual practice is. He was told that tipping is completely up to the individual client and whether they are happy with the service provided. Of course it is much appreciated by our movers, but the amount is whatever the client is comfortable with and this was stressed again and again. We have never and will never ask for tips and definitely never suggest an amount. We are a reputable company and have been in business for 10+ years and would not still be in business if this was how we conducted our business. Mr. Dickson reached out to our sales rep after the move to try to get his tip money back from us. He threatened further action if we did not comply.

This was my first time hiring movers and A to Z made very it easy for me. They are with you every step of the way. Catherine helped me schedule the date and explained their process and policies professionally. The movers (Andre, Kyle and Kendric) were great, friendly, professional, quick and everything was done very clean. There was no tape or plastic wrap left behind after. I would definitely use them again if I ever move again.

      Response from the owner
