  The guys that moved me were very good and helpful, and helped me feel very comfortable about letting strangers handle my stuff. This was the first time I'd ever hired a moving company to move me; I'd always just had friends come over for pizza and beers to help of me move prior to my experience with Around the Block, other than the military handling it for me while I was in the Army. So, I was really nervous about having to hire anyone for the first time in my life, but my disabilities from my military service wouldn't allow me to do things as I'd always done before. I made the right decision picking Around the Block instead of going with any other moving company and I intend to try to hire them again in the future, if the need should arise again.

  Movers Freddie and Nathan were great. Had a bit of miscommunication with Blake the person who set up my appointment. Other than that they were okay, I probably wouldn’t use this company again just based on Blake’s customer service. Only booked with them because I needed a move quickly & my normal movers were already booked.

  Latoya- There was no miscommunication on our part. You called us Saturday wanting us to load your truck that day. We were booked, but I told you that I would try my best to squeeze you in that evening. After communicating with our staff, I realized that it would be far too late to load your truck that day. As a result, we agreed that we would load the truck the following afternoon. In the contract emailed to you upon booking your move, your time slot was set between 12-2, however, this e-mail also states that this is an estimated time. The guys finished their first move at 11 & contacted you to inform you that they would arrive at your location in 30 minutes. You then, and for the first time, informed us that you were driving in from Houston & would not arrive for another hour and a half. At this point, I told you that our staff cannot wait around for an hour and half & that you would need to reschedule for the following day. You were upset, so I contacted my crew to see if they were willing to wait idly while you drove in. In reality, you received excellent customer service, as our crew agreed to wait an hour and a half, without pay, for you to arrive. Your truck was loaded in a timely manner with no issues whatsoever. Therefore, this two-star review is unwarranted.

  Hidden costs. Lack of transparency. Inaccurate communication. So let me start by saying I was quoted 1 price a week prior of my scheduled move, then I was called the day of to be told it would be $30 more an hour. Ok, I need movers so of course I will accept the increase. Once the move was completed, I was charged a 22% processing fee. Why in the heck is there that large of a charge? This was never communicated, as I would have paid cash! This is absurd! Then, I was told on the phone during my initial quote, all traveling was included in the cost per hour. Fast forward to the end, they charged me for the travel time to and from my location! This added on almost an hour time to my bill. I ended up paying over $800 to move a 1 bedroom apt to a single house. I hope this doesn’t happen to the next person. On a side note, the movers themselves were good.

  Susan- The additional $30/hour you were charged was for the additional mover you agreed to having on the day of your move. Normally, this charge is an additional $55/hour, but we gave you a discount due to the last minute decision. It was also recommended because of the long walk involved in getting from the truck to the elevator at the property. Without the 3rd mover, your move would’ve taken hours longer, since we had to move all of your belongings from the parking lot, through the garage, to the elevator. The credit card processing fee is a 3% charge, not 22% as you stated. This charge is listed in the email you received after booking your move. It is also on the contract you signed in person when the movers arrived. This gave you two opportunities to pay by cash instead of card. Yes, we do bill for travel time in lieu of charging a trip fee. This information can also be found in the contract that was emailed to you upon booking. Your trip charge was 15 minutes there & 15 minutes to return, resulting in 30 minutes, not an additional hour of billing.
