  My husband retired after a career in the military (Air Force). He wanted a second career as he retired at 40. He went to school and received his CDL and looked for companies hiring LOCAL drivers right out of school. Although there aren’t a lot of companies that do, there are some. My husband called Mike Lee at TLX; a driver recruiter out of Mantua, OH. He explained to Mr. Lee that he has been deployed and in the military all of his adult life, and he wanted to be home at night with his family. Mr. Lee assured my husband that TLX was hiring home daily LOCAL drivers. My husband went in for two interviews, drug screen, background check & attended two weeks of training. On Friday my husband was assigned a trainer that he would be with until he was cleared to work on his own, with his own accounts. When my husband called his trainer, the trainer told him to pack a pillow and bedding. Confused, my husband explained that he was hired as a LOCAL driver. The trainer told him to call and speak with JAY at the recruiting office. My husband called JAY moments after the conversation with his trainer. JAY said he didn’t know my husband was hired for LOCAL and he would have to have my husband wait a week (without pay) for them to find him a local trainer. Today, Tuesday 8/10/2021, JAY called my husband and told him that there was a miscommunication and that he is TERMINATED from employment immediately because they don’t have any LOCAL positions available and we live too far from their terminal?? TLX is this how you treat your VETERAN employees? Absolutely disgusting! I wish I was able to give you the 0 star rating you deserve. You should be ashamed.

  Since my flatbedding and steel hauling days are behind me, my w2 is in, none of the staff recognize my name and I no longer require a reference outside of what can be legally enforced through requirement, I suppose I can finally give my true thoughts on this company; uh, screw em. I worked 70+ hours a week, in their East/West Chicago accounts, hauling multiple loads a day, both ways, across town. All to make $700/week. I will say, had a family emergency, they got me home quickly. But the rest was BS. Old equipment, poor communication, bad costumers, ultimately- if you’re an experienced driver, well…you’re not reading this, are you? Lol
