The BBB has vastly improved their business services to include items not even thought of a few years ago. The BBB brand is not just a sticker on a door or a plaque on a wall. Services that are unique are web monitoring for discrepancies in website data, reports of faulty links, and multiple social meeting tracking technologies. The BBB has had an increased media presence in the last few years which has also helped validate the brand. The BBB is a relationship every legitimate business should have.

I hate to sound like my parents but the Better Business Bureau is not what it used to be! My daughter attempted to buy a car that was a lemon. When I called the Better Business Bureau to make a complaint of this company I was told that it was A+ company. That is a joke! All of the reviews that I have seen about this company and everyone that I have talked to are all negative They have a 3.4 star review on Google yet the Better Business Bureau says that they are an A+? I wonder how much he paid to have himself rated as an a plus with all the negative reviews. I was told that there was absolutely nothing the BBB Of Knoxville Tennessee could do because I didn't buy a car I was also told that if I did by the car, that cars are sold as is and there was nothing I could do then either. I'm glad my daughter didn't buy that car!The Better Business Bureau is also low rated at a 3.8 How can you trust a company that is supposed to protect you're interests if they have such a low rating. Businesses have to pay a fee to be accredited. It seems like as long as you pay that fee you're an A+company. It would be nice if the Better Business Bureau could find a better way to finance their company. It seems like all you have to do is pay that fee and you're a great company No matter the majority of consumer opinion.

      Response from the owner

Mr. Mahoney, we're glad to hear that your daughter did not buy the car after you determined it to be a lemon. Part of our mission is to help resolve disputes between consumers and businesses when those disputes cannot be resolved between the two parties. Our letter grade rating system is based on an algorithm of multiple factors including but not limited to: how many complaints we receive against a company, how quickly they respond, and how the issue gets resolved. It is not based on whether or not the business pays a fee for us to research background information on the company and their principles to determine accreditation eligibility. We can only report what consumers tell us. A company's letter grade is based on legal information we have about the business and how that business responds to any disputes that consumers bring to our attention. However, the star rating system is based solely on consumers experiences with a business. That's why we provide both. We try our best to give consumers the most information we can from multiple sources. Also, the information you received from our office regarding a used car is accurate. Most used cars are almost always sold "as is" without any type of warranty. Some dealerships give you the option to buy an extended warranty. I'm sorry if we let you down. We try very hard to provide accurate information from multiple sources.

They really don't evaluate anything of importance and their business score has no basis in reality. Businesses with the worst customer service still have A+ grades. Registering a complaint really does nothing.

      Response from the owner

Hi Benjamin, we looked in our records and can't find where you've registered a complaint previously so we're not sure what your opinion is based on. However, we make sure that any Accredited business is properly licensed and is responsive to consumer disputes. We also report consumer experiences with businesses on our website and our letter grade is reflective of how the business responds in resolving any issues. We always recommend trying to resolve any disputes directly with the business involved prior to contacting us as this is usually the best way to resolve any disagreements. We realize that sometimes this option may not provide the desired results, and that's one of the reasons we work with consumers and businesses to help resolve disputes. If you have an issue with a business please let us know and we will be happy to help in any way we can.
