We moved across the country in the middle of the winter and didn't have a firm date. Cal was very flexible with me, which I really appreciated. He uses an app to try to estimate the number of boxes and space you'll need for the day of the move. He'll send someone to do an estimate. Overall, he is very responsive and pleasant to work with. The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to the day of the load up and the day of the unload. 3 people showed up to finish packing and then load a nearly 1900 square foot home - about 4 hours in, the lead of the 3 realized that it would not be possible for him to finish the job without help. They had run out of materials and were running out of daylight. 3 other guys showed up with more materials and things eventually got done - at this point it was well past dark and there was no way that the driver could leave as has been scheduled. Not the end of the world. Our stuff was in the truck. On the day that they truck arrived and had been scheduled to be unloaded, there were not enough people scheduled to do the job. A SINGLE person arrived to assist the driver unload. The driver sent that man away and insisted that an actual team be dispatched. The next day, 3 guys showed up and they, along with the driver, unloaded the truck (I helped quite a bit, too). Overall, the truck was well packed and there were very minor casualties - I did not feel the need to make any claims. For a deep-winter, cross-country move, this seems like a small miracle. Kudos to the loading team for properly packing and securing the load. The driver made a heroic drive from Oregon to Missouri in some terrible conditions and he survived and didn't wreck the truck, kudos for that. Cal was flexible and responsive on flexible dates. Where Cal can improve (and I know this is not all in his control): don't over-promise on team availability. The day of a move and the day of arrival are VERY stressful for people. even if you do everything else right, if not enough people show up to do the job, those stressed out people are going to forget about all the other good things you did. All they are going to remember is how those days felt. I will recommend Cal's with this caveat: the person moving needs to be aware and self advocate to be sure that CAl sends an appropriate team for the job.

For such a young man he is very committed and is a great communicator. I had him help me with a lot of heavy things (I have a bad back) and he and his workers were extremely kind. If anyone needs any sort of moving help, Cals Moving Help is the way to go!
