Booked a moving service via the website “book online link”. Confirmation email and text were sent PLUS the service charge was taken from the account as soon as I booked it. I had no issue with all of that above. I assume that was the protocol. The day before the service I received an text confirming my booking with Darryl. The day of the service no one showed up at 1pm(the time of the booking). I called the number provided and Darryl picked up and was rude. He blamed me the customer for booking online with his company and insinuating multiple times that I was stupid. He continued to argue with me about the booking and saying I didn’t book the service even though his company took the money out of my account, sent a confirmation email and text. Sir I understand it was New Years Eve and you didn’t want to work, that’s all you had to say. I would have preferred the honesty of you not wanting to work instead of berating your customer for booking online since clearly you do not have a actual location. The location online is non/operable apparently! Save your money and go find another black owned business where ppl know how use their website.

This was my first time using this company and I thoroughly enjoyed the service. My furniture and items were handled with great care and properly protected . They were quick, efficient and very kind and professional which was an added bonus. Moving is always a stressful time for me, and they definitely made this experience a pleasant one. I will definitely use them again. Thanks Guys!

I was really enthusiastic about Capitol hill haulers prior to my move, as they offered the most competitive quote and seemed like a small business I wanted to support. Wish I hadn't done that. The movers were hardworking and my stuff was not damaged, which is why I am giving them 3 stars instead of 1 or 2. They worked really hard. However, the move took twice as long as I was quoted and cost 2x as much. The movers clearly had no information coming into my move of what to expect, which resulted in them seeming exhausted and annoyed with my move. I emailed with Darryl to express disappointment in lack of communication and he argued with me, essentially blaming me for the issues (the elevator wasn't locked, I incorrectly calculated the # of flights, etc) and blaming the lead for not communicating details of the invoice. IMO all of those details should be known upfront, available to reference in the original estimate, on your company website, literally anywhere except the responsibility of the actual movers to communicate day of. I would recommend avoiding this company and go with a more established mover in the DC area like Anytime Movers or District Relocators, who would likely provide a more accurate quote up front and/or ask for the information they need to provide the most accurate quote and perform the job efficiently. Wish I had.

Capitol Hill Haulers is a full service moving company that provides a wide variety of services to make your move stress free, & that’s takes pride in going above and beyond with quick and efficient work, communication & our amazing services. We try our best to give our customers the best quote based on the information at hand. Unfortunately the day of the move the elevators were not available and too small to transport furniture. Our customers only have two fees to worry about, overtime and flight fees unless you have an add-on or special request. We also offer free assembly. overtime is charged in 15 minute intervals to help avoid overcharging. Every 10 steps is considered a flight. we provided you with a full moving service and move in/out cleaning service which all went well. Unfortunately your move had over 5 flights. We traditionally give our customers one flight free but because you had a cleaning service with us we gave you an additional flight off as well, taking 2 off your total. Our lead mover even stopped the time prior to end of job to help with the circumstances and go above and beyond with their customer service. As you stated our men are hard workers and got the job done in a timely manner given the circumstances of only having two CHH Movers, they completed a move with 7 flights in 6 hours. They managed to do all this without damaging any property. We don’t apply flight fees until on site unless the customer will count flights & inform us prior so we can apply them. we were under the impression we would have access to an elevator & it would be locked off for movers. it is our policy to call customer before leaving the truckstop to ensure we have all the proper info and equipment to ensure move quality and give eta. Our lead communicates with you throughout moving process on site to ensure you know when any additional fees will be applied. Capitol Hill Haulers would never intentionally underestimate a quote & all our customers get an email estimate with everything itemized and service description. no hidden fees but any overtime and flights must be applied & paid. On our website if you visit the moving service page or online booking service description explaining our entire process and that we are an hourly based company. Thank you for you feedback, we will try our best to make sure an incident like this does not happen in the future.once again I apologize for the misunderstanding.
