The entire moving process from the quote to the last box being carried in was smooth! The office coordinator, Janet, calmed my nerves and answered every question I had. The team of movers, Rolando, Lottie, Ronnie, are highly professional and respectful. They were very careful with our furniture, wrapped everything, carried boxes in and put in correct rooms. They were humorous and hard-working. Not one problem. Would definitely work with Century Moving again and highly recommend them!

Century Moving was referred to us by our Real Estate agent for our move from Naperville, IL to Bluffton, SC. Our move was scheduled for Monday, June 7, 2021. The plan was for the movers to arrive at 9:00 a.m. They did not show up until 6:00 p.m. We were assured by Century Moving that the “office would stay on top of our move so that the delivery goes much smoother” The contract stated that the delivery date would fall anywhere between June 11th to June 18th. The delivery came on Friday, June 18h, the very last day. The movers lost the 8 legs used to support the planks, which supports the mattress. They moved numerous boxes, which were clearly marked storage, into the apartment, so we had to take those boxes to the storage unit. Additionally, two floor lamps that were packed by the movers were broken and had to be thrown out. Our Real Estate agent spoke with the owner, Bob Fleming, and she informed us that we would be taken care of with a reduction on the price of the move. After all that we went through with this move, we expected MUCH MORE than a $386.16 reduction in price and a bouquet of flowers. As bad as this nightmare of a move was, the owner’s lack of proper restitution is simply unacceptable. Clearly, the owner only cares about his profit. I would strongly recommend that anyone who is moving interstate NOT USE Century Moving Inc!

      Response from the owner

We have contacted Mr. and Mrs. Aurigemma directly. Mr. & Mrs. Aurigemma, We are in receipt of your correspondence from last week. The following is our response to the issues you addressed: Cost of the move Your original cost, including the additional valuation coverage was 8371.66. At the time of loading the driver packed 3 dishpacks, 1 small carton, 4 medium cartons, 1 large carton, 2 wardrobes and 3 TV’s. The additional cost to do this was 191.86 for a total move cost of 8563.52. You were charged 9277.62 via credit card which was 714.10 over the total cost. We refunded a total of 1292.12 which was the 714.10 overcharge and a 578.02 credit for your inconvenience. Moving day The Thursday prior to your loading day our office called the driver and asked if he needed help to load. He said he has help he uses in the Chicago area and was all set. Mid to late morning of moving day the driver called our office and said that his helper crew had not shown up. Our office began searching for a crew that could assist as all our staff were out on moving jobs. By mid afternoon we had a commitment from a moving crew we contract with on occasion to go to the job site after they completed their current move. As you stated they arrived about 6:00pm and stayed until about midnight and the driver loaded the remaining items. Please understand that it is the driver’s responsibility to provide help to load the shipment not Century. We offered qualified help from our agency, and he told us that he had a crew. Had he used our crew none of the problems would have occurred. Century follow up after the loading We told you that we would keep you informed of the driver’s delivery status, and we did. You were also provided with Bob Flemings cell number to call when needed. We also reached out to you several times between the loading and the delivery. We coordinated with central dispatch and customer service at headquarters multiple times to assure delivery would be made within the spread of dates on the contract, and it was. Delivery day On deliver day the driver arrived about 8:30 and the crew within an hour of that time as you stated. Also, as you stated there were two stops which the driver was aware of. During the unloading process you state that items were delivered to the wrong location. Also, the feet to the bed were lost and two floor lamps damaged. You notified our office of the lost legs; I believe over the weekend. Our office immediately started reaching out to repair firms in your area and found a person who could go out Monday, one business day after delivery. We gave him your phone number and you had already made repairs over the weekend. The problems at destination were not because of the lack of follow through by our office but the management of the move by the driver. The same driver who caused the problems on loading day. There are three participants in each interstate move. The origin office that “sells” the order and overseas the communication with the customer, the driver who loads, transports and delivers the shipment and the Bekins operation department who assigns the driver and overseas the entire move process. We are not trying to “throw the driver under the bus” but his actions caused the problems. The three participants act as a team in the execution of the move so we as a company are at fault for the service failure. We have attached a copy of the Bekins claim form for you to complete with return address as well as the phone number of customer service at headquarters. Once again, we are sorry that your move did not take place without incident but to characterize our company as providing no follow through on your issues and that our only interest is about profit is simply wrong.

Century Movers were FANTASTIC!!!!! Never once did I worry that my belongings were being handled carelessly or going to end up broken upon arrival. The Century movers took the time to wrap things, pad things, and take apart things! My particular crew, Ronnie, Martin, Cesar, and Loddy were unbelievable professional and friendly from start to finish. This was my first time ever hiring movers, as I've been afraid of how much it would cost and my personal belongings being mishandled and let me tell you, Century Movers was worth every penny I spent (which was less than many of their compotators). The box rental program was so helpful, and gave me the push to empty sooner so I could receive my deposit back. The office staff never left it up to me to call and confirm ANYTHING as they were so professional and on top of the curtesy calls to confirm our schedule. Thanks Century Movers!
