Me and my family were in a hurry and needed to move so we called this company. We called and they agreed to show up so they did. They looked around and seemed quite professional and kind though it seemed quite shady when they asked for a payment in advance. My grandfather wrote a check for 900 dollars and made an agreement with Dalton for him not to cash it until the service was performed. From that point we heard nothing and tried to reach them for days. Dalton texted my grandfather that he was intimidated and wouldn't be coming. Me and my family were quite angered by this. Also, on that day we gave the check in advance, he immediately cashed it out and despite seeking a refund, there is no sign of our 900 dollars in sight. We ended up having to hire another company with money we didn't have all because Chief moving is an absolute scam. Do not use this company unless you want to get scammed. The move was overpriced and was only for moving 3 people two miles away. Talking to friends, they've had moves across the state that cost only 400 more dollars than what we were charged. This company takes advantage of elder citizens and should not be operating as it is. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!
Response from the owner

Dalton came to my house to move me, and required a payment of $800 upfront in cash. While my daughter was going to get the cash and bring it to me, they loaded up a couple of things. Then my daughter showed up with the $800 on cash. They took the $800 and then said that 3 other people were coming to finish the job. They said that they had to go uhaul to by wraps for my wood. And 3 other people will be here loading up the other stuff and that he would be right back. I called multiple times because no one else ever showed up. Dalton said that he would call and check with them because they had said something about stopping to eat lunch. No one ever showed up. At 9pm Mark called and said that their truck broke down and that they would be at my house at 7am tomorrow morning to move my stuff. I informed him that I had already rented the uhaul and that it had to be returned by 9am that next day. They said that they would move the little stuff that was in the uhaul into their truck and let me rerun the uhaul for no extra charge. Then at 7am the next day no one showed up. I called multiple times, and they would not answer my calls. Wouldn’t respond to any text messages, or Facebook messages. Until now no one has yet to respond to me. They took my $800 and never moved me. I was on a budget because of this pandemic and I believe and trusted them. Tomorrow I will be be going to the police station to file a police report and show all the corespondents, after I leave the police station I will also be filing a civil suit in Cleveland county against Dalton, and Chief Movers. Do not use this company they are scammers.

On February 28th, I contacted Dalton Johnson in regard to moving my mother’s belongings. I informed him that she would be packed up, and simply needed help to move her belongings to her desired location by March 1st. He agreed to do the job and stated that the price would be $800. I then inquired as to when payment was required for the service, and how payment was to be collected. I was told (on that phone call on the 28th) that payment would be required on the offload of her items at the desired location, and that payment would be required to be in cash. They stated that they would be at my mothers house by 10 am the next day (March 1st) to help her move her 4 bedroom house. We both agreed to the terms and the conversation ended. On March 1st, Dalton and his crew did not arrive at my mothers house until around 14:30 (2:30 pm). Upon their arrival, Dalton and his Co-Owner Jordan, decided that instead of collecting payment upon the offloading of her items (as previously discussed) they now required payment before they began moving. When I called to discuss this change in agreement with Dalton, he agreed that payment before starting was not the previous arrangement; and insisted that this change was brought upon by his co-owner. While I was frustrated with the sudden change, I agreed to pay him as requested. Upon my arrival at the house, I noted that they had loaded a few items. I paid Dalton, and asked him how the move was going. He stated that he and his partner had another job moving a hot tub in Edmond, and that he had 3 other employees headed our way to finish the move. Dalton and his partner left around 16:30 (4:30 pm) to go complete the move in Edmond. Keep in mind, Dalton and his partner were only on location for about an hour. Around 1800 (6:00 pm) I learned that these other 3 employees never showed up. I had attempted to call multiple times; however, all of my calls went straight to voicemail. When dialing from another phone, the phone rang (albeit there was no answer). I left Dalton a message, requesting an explanation as to what was going on, and got no response from him. At 19:30 (7:30 pm), I received a text message from Mark Callugian stating that the “…truck had broken down, and that he would be calling 1st thing in the morning to finish the move.” Additionally, he claimed that they tried (and failed) to reach me several times. My phone records, acquired from my phone company, prove that this statement is wholly untrue, and no attempt had been made to contact me prior to the text message from Mark. At this point I called Mark, on the number provided, and discussed my issues with the situation. He promised to contact my mother and to finish the job the next day (March 2nd). Neither Dalton nor Mark showed up to complete the job that they had been paid to do. Additionally, there has been no communication as to why the job has not been completed. I have since filed a police report, reported him to the Better Business Bureau, and to the Oklahoma State department for, what at this point appears to be, fraud. I do plan to take this matter to civil court as well. Please understand Dalton and Co., I have a receipt of my transaction, the terms of our agreement in writing and as publicly displayed on your business page, and recorded conversations confirming that you/your team agreed to do and complete the job, you had been paid to do. To fellow consumers looking for movers: Please do not use Chief Moving Company to move your belongings. There are plenty of other companies that will complete the job they have been paid to do, and do so professionally.
