  It will be 4 years in February that I have been an Independent contractor here. I thoroughly enjoy the work and the people that I deal with on a daily basis. Great company in my eyes and you get in what you put out from this company. I have recommended several people here and we are all going strong.

  After 30days employment had review. Any issues I had were resolved immediately. Had 90day review, no issues. Great company to work with. Freight is slow everywhere. So if you jump job to job don't come here and waist everyones time. Good place to be. Should have come here in 1988 when started driving.

  Lee, we love to hear that. Thank you for the compliments. That is exactly the reason we do the reviews. We would have loved to have you back in '88 too, I think we still have a couple owner operators from back then. I would only clarify one thing - we are a 100% Owner operator company (I know Lee knows this) so we don't have 'employee' drivers other than just a couple working our terminal yards. But if you are an owner operator with a truck and haul big equipment - we are your home.

  Company hired me Feb 28th, had 88 mile commute, bought a house to be closer to work, company fired me June 8th. Never missed a day and there was no mention of unsatisfactory performance, wished they could have said something before buying a house, they knew of the intent. They said it was not about the numbers but culture, well there you go, how about that culture!?

  As far as the 88 mile commute and duration of employment, this has been verified. All Diamond employment is subject to 90-day review, which in this case ended up being 100 days. We have a number of employees who commute from a distance, and while 88 miles is on the high side it’s not unheard of – relocation was not a condition of the hire. Further, over the 100 days there were a number of documented performance issues we need not detail online, including one official written warning signed by Luis and a meeting for corrective action including the direct supervisor and the president of the company. As far as this being “not about numbers but culture”, perhaps there was a misunderstanding. The numbers were not terrible but they were not on par with others in the same position. The culture that was spoken of was in reference to the ability to work with others in and across departments and the exercise of control with the independent contractor fleet. We run a business that relies on many individual independent businessmen/women that must have the ability to make their own decisions. Too often, those options were not clearly offered. Thank you very much for your time, and while we do appreciate the attendance and effort, this simply was not a good fit for either party. -DTSI
