This company initially addressed all my moving concerns and needs. I was given an initial estimate and was told within 2-3 days they would weigh the load and tell me what a final estimate would be. They called me about a week and a half later asking for payment. I gladly obliged with my information as it was consistent with the estimate. I had also emailed them regarding an update on payment about a week into this process as I was having to structure my move across country around their payment and knew it was based on weight. I was expecting an update 2-3 days after we picked up but did not receive one. I never got a reply and simply got a call requesting the payment for the initial estimate. They then called to say when my things would be delivered, it had already been delivered. When I had stated that things were broken and clearly not packaged on the truck correctly (fragile items with an arrow pointing up on the bottom of the entire truck and not even pointed the correct way) they did give me a clear policy on reporting this which I appreciate. A few days after items were delivered I received a call stating I would owe more due to excess weight. To me this seems very suspicious as this should have been addressed and communicated 2-3 days after loading. Asking for extra money even though the order has already been completed? I’ve gotten almost daily emails with the amount due since I’ve gotten the call. It’s always highlighted. They’ve made it clear they knew about the excess weight beforehand, but did not communicate. I would’ve been happy to pay if there was better communication, but now I feel harassed and belittled. Many local moving companies have gone out of business due to fuel surcharges, not the story for Lawrence. They made sure to charge extra for that as well. All in all, I’d advise to choose a company who has good communication and better family values.
Response from the owner
Lawrence Moving and Storage uses a virtual survey to assess how many items and approximately how much weight a customer will move prior to giving them pricing. In this case, a virtual survey was conducted and recorded to give an accurate price quote. Unfortunately the customer moved additional items not identified on the Virtual Survey resulting in a 2000lbs overage and additional charges. While this does happen occasionally, our move coordinators and salespeople do their best to educate a customer on capturing all items they wish to move so there are no surprises. We don’t take these complaints lightly and do take the opportunity to highlight this type of complaint to make sure we always educate our staff so that they can make sure the customer fully understands how our charges work before they move. If there are any additional questions or concerns please email our moving division [email protected]

Dewey and Rick were incredible. They arrived in the small window the dispatcher had given me and made quick work of the packing. Their loading techniques were impressive and they worked through heavy snow to keep on schedule. Super nice and professional team. We will see how my stuff comes out at the other end.
