  Delivery drivers are wonderful and careful with my items. They arrived 3 hours later than the time quoted but that is to be expected in a city like DC. Billing department hides a lot of fees. It cost over $200 for a DC delivery plus the monthly $60. Then I get a call that they have been emailing me to transfer my items to another facility because they were purchased by someone else. They are charging me another $90+ to get me my items and also adding another $60 monthly charge because they can't deliver until after my next billing cycle. Absolutely terrible customer service and all the extra fees make something that should be easy into a headache.

  In brief: Right Away Storage consistently demonstrated an inability to provide the services paid for and failed to compensate customer for damages sustained to items within their custody. My experience with Right Away Storage was incredibly dissatisfactory, punishingly frustrating, and I will not recommend their services to anyone UNLESS you’re willing to run the gamut with receiving your items out of storage destroyed. Please note my primary issues are as follows: Missed pick-up window in November 2020 – kind of critical for those of us that live in apartments in which elevators are routinely “reserved” during specific time slots for moving. Wasn’t the end of the world, they came back later in the evening. Incomplete delivery in September 2021 – several of my items were missing, including a rather sizeable armoire. Again, not the end of the world, but another stressful, time-consuming situation that required additional coordination. An irreparably damaged armoire that was delivered the second day and left in my apartment. This was done even though it had clearly sustained damages that would render it impossible to repair and was missing a piece critical to its functionality. After the initial drop-off in September of 2021, after 10 months of paying for a unit at Right Away Storage, I noted that I had several items missing, including large items. These items had initially been left at the storage facility accidentally, so I scheduled a second drop off. During this secondary drop off, it became abundantly clear that my armoire had been damaged past the point of repair and was missing a piece. See photos - the back had completely popped off (each and every nail) and the top had sustained clear breakage that indicated it had been dropped. I immediately called and explained the situation. They informed me that they couldn’t take back the armoire to dispose of it and that I should file a complaint with images of the damage. I will note that during initial intake of November 2020, the movers noted cosmetic damage and to be honest if it had come back with a few bumps or scrapes, I would have been fine painting over them. However, the top portion of the armoire was completely split apart – see images for where it was clearly dropped while in Right Away Storage’s custody. I requested that Right Away Storage investigate, provided the same pictures attached to this review, and that I’d like the company to pay for the removal of the piece as well as a replacement. I was told this investigation would take 7-10 days to process. I followed up 7 days later because I hadn’t heard anything and received a response within a few hours. I was offered $179 (the cost of one month’s rent at the facility) and offered the fine print of the contract which does excuse Right Away Storage from responsibilities if damage on any of the items you place into their care is sustained. Boiling it down to fine print, which essentially excuses the company from any liability even though they’re billed as a “climate-controlled storage company” – which tends to advertise or at least imply that they are a safe place to store items with – is ridiculous. However, my concerns were roundly dismissed by the customer care team and I was made to feel as though my expectation for a professional storage company to be able to safely store my items was, in fact, absurd. Between the damage sustained to the armoire and the fact that pick-up and delivery times were not adhered to by Right Away Storage, I wasn’t provided the services I paid for. Repeatedly, Right Away Storage put me in the position to have to accommodate for their mistakes. Needless to say, I do not recommend using this company to store your items. Look elsewhere.

  Fantastic experience. Staff is very helpful, facility is clean and secure, plus they have tons of services - nothing like I have ever seen at a storage facility. They offer Moving Services so they can pick-up your belongings and bring it back to the facility. Their Package Acceptance service is amazing! I keep business inventory in my unit and get packages sent directly to the building - they put it in my unit and send me an email when it arrives. What a time saver! This building is right off I-95 and very easy to access. The building is very well lighted inside and out. Its hard to miss this building at night with all the lights. They have Face Mask signs everywhere and take COVID health safety seriously. I feel very comfortable in the facility and would highly recommend.
