  I would not recommend them. We've moved 5 times in the last 12 years and decided to try a larger agent. We chose Allied who was serviced in our area by Marathon Moving. Their quote was almost double the next best company we trusted, however, given Allied's reputation and the services that were promised, we decided to give them a shot. While getting a quote Marathon was quite pleasant with them being very helpful in that stage. One of the major reasons we chose to use them over other movers because they promised to "Pad & protect your home including floors - walls - door jambs - etc.;" We were selling our house about a week after the move, so keeping everything in great shape was a priority. The day of the move they arrived about an hour later than the window they promised. They then started packing/loading without protecting the house at all. I asked about this and the crew manager said he had no idea what I was talking about. I then attempted to reach the two people at Marathon I had previously spoken to. I tried both their cells and office numbers and couldn't get through. The fact I wasn't given a contact number for the day of the move should there be issues was unacceptable. A few hours after my voicemails I received a call back, but by that point everything was already packed and on the truck and I was just signing final documents. They had scratched walls, furniture and the ceiling coming down from the staircase. While they were packing, they left a number of items from furniture they disassembled on window casings and countertops, luckily we saw them and asked what they were from. They said they they must have forgotten to pack them with the furniture and asked us to just hold onto them until the delivery of the items. The next day, we got a call from our driver from Allied stating that they would come pick up our items the next day, we informed them that they had already been picked up and they were quite confused. After discussion it seems like Marathon picked up the order themselves to make a bit more money. At delivery the same thing occurred, the quote stated: "Again fully pad & protect your residence including floors - walls - door jambs - etc.;" And once again, none of this was done. Once all our items were unloaded we had the misfortune of finding out that nearly every box that was marked fragile was crushed or damaged. We haven't made a claim yet, as the items are still adding up, but we have had quite a few broken items. My TV was also listed in three inventory in the quote as a 55"and we were charged for a box for that. Unfortunately, the box they used was not designed for a TV of that size and was just trapped into a box with the side of the TV sticking it the end wrapped in a ton of paper and tape. The TV arrived with scratches all over the exterior. I would not recommend Marathon. They didn't deliver on the many promises they made in their quote that convinced us to use them in the first place. Many of our boxes arrived damaged, and quite a few of our items in those boxes were broken. They over promised and under delivered and performed worse than a company we've used in the past that charged half as much.

  Everyone we worked with at Marathon Moving was helpful and professional. Because it was an interstate move, we were working with Allied Van Lines - they all did a terrific job. Everyone at Marathon was helpful and responsive and the movers themselves were really terrific. They did an amazing job getting their trucks up our new driveway and handled everything really well. Would use them again without hesitation.

  I used Marathon to move from MA to FL recently. It wasn't a whole house move, just some random boxes and pieces of furniture I had at my mother's house that I wanted in FL. This was the first time I moved myself, I'd often been relocated with companies but never needed to find a mover myself. It is really stressful. Marathon has great Google reviews but there were 1-2 that really gave me pause. I kept worrying about them and thinking "what if they are really true?" so I called Kathy, my rep at Marathon, to discuss them. I was open about my hesitations with the 2 reviews and she shared with me her perspective. There are always two sides and I felt like she was very open with me and just the fact that she didn't get upset when I mentioned the bad reviews was positive in my mind. I decided to go with Marathon and it was a great move. They showed up within the window given to me (at both load and unload) and they were professional. They moved a sleeper sofa down a flight of stairs that curved and they didn't touch the walls at all. I did my own packing, so I can't speak to their packing, but as far as loading, unloading, shipping and meeting the expectations they set for me, they get great reviews. It is a really stressful, expensive process, so if you have doubts, I recommend you call and talk to them about it. I'm sure you'll feel better just like I did! I appreciate the whole team for their help and definitely recommend them.
