The owner is not a very friendly person and is quite difficult to talk to. She seemed combative and untrustworthy or suspicious of me when I tried to talk to her on her business site. After about 5 mins of inquiring how I could go about contacting or messaging the owner, she finally admitted that she, infact, was the owner. The following conversation was unpleasant and completely pointless, and subsequently lead to unnecessary damage by a gas utilities company to city property/water utilities for our entire street (Direct Energy broke a city water main trying to connect the homes to the new gas line laid to replace the one that will be dug up during the expansion and widening of E Austin St. the whole ordeal could have been avoided if they hadn’t been denied access to the unit property, which was the original plan and least invasive option to all parties involved. She claimed she didn’t want to have any machinery parked on her property because she would lose business, which is now completely blocked off and inaccessible because the entire street is torn up. Oh, sweet irony), the 3000 block of N Pecan st. The property is in a residential neighborhood, but has a tall barbed wire fence bordering the entirety of its perimeter. I suppose that would be a plus if you rented a storage unit from here, except for the fact that there is a hole in the fence and I regularly see people crawling through the fence on the backside where an adjacent apartment complex’s residents cut through the storage unit property and then pry open and squeeze through the electric gate entrance/exit located directly in front of a row of homes including the one in which I reside. I used to play in the field across the street as a kid all the time and every spring it would be filled with milkweed and wildflowers waist high (including bluebonnets which are supposedly protected...I guess not when you want to build something), but then one day a bull dozer came and destroyed the field, flattened the earth, and built a mean ladies storage units in its place. Now we don’t have water or gas and there’s a big trench stretching across our front yard through our garden and out into the street, blocking my path to and from work.
