I have to start with the bad. The communication from Peluso Movers in Naples, Florida (the local United Van Lines agent) was poor – emails and voicemails to the move coordinator Kim Hale were at times just ignored. Despite numerous attempts on my part to impress upon the move coordinator and the sales representative the limitations of moving out of a high-rise condominium complex with limited space to stage large trucks and specific hours the elevator could be reserved, I could not convince them to come earlier than 10:00 AM on moving day to inventory and pad/shrink-wrap furniture for the move. So they were limited to a 6-hour window of time to move the entire contents of our 2,200 square foot condo down from the 31st floor. Even the loading crew of 3 men commented that it was a 4-person job. Not only did they run out of time, but they underestimated the size truck they needed which we believe was one of the causes of extensive damage to our load. The sales representative with Peluso Movers (Ed Turner) told us that our property would be moved from the shuttle truck to the moving van. That did not happen. Our belongings were unwrapped, moved from the shuttle truck into the warehouse, and then rewrapped and loaded onto the United Van Lines moving van. Between Peluso’s loading, United Van Line’s unloading, reloading and long-haul of our property, and Fry-Wagner’s (the local United agent at destination) unloading, there was an incredible amount of damage. We reported 15 separate items on our Claims Form, some of which were completely destroyed. The real clincher was when one of the men who was unloading accused us of having damaged a dining room chair ourselves. The good news is that United Van Lines employs Weathersby Guild to repair damaged furniture. Weathersby’s representative, Bill Olson, spent four days at our home doing a wonderful job of repairing the damage that United’s agents did. United did pay our full claim for Items that were unrepairable. Does this excuse all of the unnecessary damage that could have been avoided by more consideration for and better handling of our goods? Of course not. If this amount of damage is status quo for United, they should be ashamed of themselves. I would in no way recommend Peluso Movers in Naples, Florida, or Fry-Wagner in Kansas City, or United Van Lines as a whole.

      Response from the owner

We know customers value their possessions and regret any damages. Shuttle service is used if the assigned over-the-road van is unable to make a normal pickup or delivery because of physical constraints or if additional overflow occurs.

We were VERY pleased with both teams. The packing team was very professional. The next day the moving team came and we're just as professional. They were on time on the day requested. Thank you

Peluso Movers of Naples, Florida removed the stress of moving! They were not only professional, efficient, and thorough, but they were also polite, pleasant, and seemed to enjoy their work. Our condo manager was pleased with their adhering to the rules and directions they were given. The movers treated our belongings with extreme care. They exhibited great patience in dealing with the elevator, the long trek to their van, and traffic within the complex. We would not hesitate to hire them again. We highly recommend them!

      Response from the owner
