I recently rented a truck with Penske. I reserved the truck about 3 weeks prior to my move date. I was scheduled to pick up my truck at 8am on June 30th. I got a call and voicemail at 4:59 on June 29th saying that they did not have a truck for me, that their office was closing at 5pm, but I could call back the next day at 8am if I had any questions. I had been counting on the truck to store my things overnight because I had to be out of my apartment at 12pm and wasn't able to move into my new apartment until the following day. There was no apology or ideas for how I would be able to move my things as scheduled. I was forced to call around to other places (Uhaul, etc) on a Saturday night trying to secure a truck for multiple days at a very busy time of the month. I was not able to secure an alternative moving truck in the tight turnaround. I called Penske at 8am when they opened again and they said they had a truck for me in Mound (significantly farther away). So I started the 35 minute trip to Mound, when they call me on my way and say they have a truck for me in Plymouth. I ultimately ended up with a truck, but was way more rushed moving things, was hours delayed, and this added a lot of stress to an already stressful time. I will say that once I got to the Home Depot to rent the truck, the staff were very nice, helpful, and efficient. I was very disappointed that Penske would not even acknowledge that they were hugely inconveniencing me and that they would not even apologize for not having a truck for me that I had reserved.

Stuck in rural Kansas due to 26' Penske truck DPF failure two days after renting a truck from this location. Called roadside and they walked me through manually "cleaning" the filter. Attempt one did not work, and neither did attempt two. I had my car attached on a tow and told roadside I would be content driving to my destination, Phoenix, and they tow my truck and or fix it. Rep thought that was reasonable and got back to me hours later saying his "bosses" have a new plan and it was a take it or leave it plan! The nerve! I'm stuck in a failed truck in 102 degree heat with no one around and they try to dictate everything. They told me I have to stay with the truck (at this point I am very hot and running out of water with no food and the only building, a church, wasn't open). Eventually we were told we would need to find a local hotel to stay the night and they will bring us a new truck "hopefully today, but maybe tomorrow due to my rural location." They then would need to find movers to unload and load the truck with the hope I can travel on the next afternoon. Who is liable for damage with the new unloading and loading? This has been a complete nightmare due to the poor communication and the lack of urgency on their part--they're not the one stuck in the middle of nowhere with a broken down truck! I have a wife and newborn waiting in Phoenix for me. I've had to cancel other hotels and have been under incredible stress due to this experience. What is ironic is that when I called the rental company I specifically said I had a very poor experience my last move with Penske and to make sure I had a worry free truck. They assured me and even said they'll "put it in their notes." My last move the truck's engine would make a loud "bang" sound and then stutter as if it were stalling. Imagine that every 30 minutes in a cross country trip! I will never use Penske again and will be promoting others to seek their moving needs elsewhere. I hope this nightmare ends soon as it can't possibly get any worse.

I had a horrible expierence Satorday March 16th. It started out when I orignally set up my rental with them and they wanted $400 for a car trailer, but when they called I explained UHaul had them for a lot less snd they lowered it for me. But now lets get to Saturday, I admit I screwed up on my date to get the truck but I was set up for one way from Plymouth to Marion, Ia. I get there and see if we can switch the dates and they tell me they dont have any one way trucks left but I could use a round trip truck. Ok I am fine with that so I tell Thor Marion is 285 miles away and he tells me thats fine your truck will be less then $341 for the weekend. I thought I was getting a hell of a deal bc he was even throwing in the trailer for free. So after we get everything straightened out I was originally told there was no deposit but guess what now I have a deposit of an extra $150. So right now I am paying $100 more than my quote for a round trip. Now we get everything moved and on my way back to drop the truck off in Brooklyn Park I get gas in Albert Lea. At this point I am broke bc I had no plans of a $150 deposit so I cant fill up the truck again. So I leave the truck with 3/4 of a tank of gas. I get a call monday saying I still owe them over $200 and I ask how that is possible, they say I used 17 gallons of gas to drive 110 miles, and I drove 600 miles not the 300 they billed me for. Then I tell them I knew I would have to pay the gas bc I thought it would be $5 a gallon but was I wrong they charge $8/gal, but they could take it out of my deposit and she tells me you didnt pay a deposit. So at this point I was irrate and so she calls back to home depot and finds out I did pay a deposit. She tells me now that I am getting my $150 back but I still owe $271($120/gas and $151/mileage). So I ask how come I have to pay for your screw up your quote, so in the end they end up only charging me the $443 I originally paid but what pisses me off the most is I had $30 I just got in my checking account for me to get gas in my own vehicle and they took that money too and have yet to return it! These guys are scam artist and greddy dont use them!!!!
