Avoid this company at all costs. As soon as you pay you will struggle to get anyone at the company to respond to you. This would be OK except the website is also down regularly so you can't do things like sign the agreements necessary for containers to be shipped. They delivered my shipment (I was moving states) a week late and made no suggestion that this was out of the norm. I would never use this company again for moving or storage and would suggest you avoid them as well.

Review for this Jamaica, NY location specifically: 1) If you’re picking up/accessing a pod, don’t make the mistake I did and navigate to this Google pin @ 9540 Tuckerton St. There’s a different Google Maps pin for that (“PODS Customer Access” on 150th St) 2) Beware, neighborhood’s busy w/ scarce street parking, and the access lot itself is kinda narrow and can get hectic when delivery trucks are around. Although, I never had issues with parking on-site for container access. 3) Does PODS only have 1 person on-site per site to help customers? Because every time I visited this location there was only guy helping customers, but man. He seriously deserves a raise, bonus, whatever PODS can offer because he was seriously a pro amongst pros. Every time I saw him, he was doing the work of several people- coordinating with delivery trucks, assisting customers, strategically placing pods- with a precision, promptness and courtesy that felt almost therapeutic amidst today’s craziness. I really regret not getting the gentleman’s name since he’s the reason why I decided to bother with writing a review. 😕 Hope the universe receives the appreciation and sends all good things his way. Kudos also to PODS telephone customer service too. Every person on the phone has been extremely pleasant, helpful, and competent. Whoever’s handling phone line staffing is great at their job. Great team.

I gave three stars but it requires explanation: 5 stars for the delivery drivers at either end, 1 star for PODs corporate. If you are in NYC, be very careful about dealing with PODS. Their customer service people at the corporate level do not know how local regulations work. They put in an order for a street delivery even after we mentioned that we had heard street deliveries weren't possible. The person indicated that NYC rules had changed and that City Service, where you pay a lot extra to have a person sit in the truck while you load, was no longer necessary. 24 hours before the delivery, we were informed by email that we would need a permit for the street delivery. After scrambling for the entire day to try to get more information and to arrange for a permit, we were told by another person at PODs that street deliveries were not possible in our area. We were forced to postpone the move. Corporate PODs was NOT helpful, and one of the supervisors we talked to was outright rude, telling us we should have known better, despite the fact that we had relied in good faith on bad information from PODs. We were not given any help or options and were told an apology was the only thing we were going to get. No accomodations despite PODs' mistake, no flexibility on delivery times or POD sizes. They wouldn't even agree to provide us City Service for free to make up for their mistake. Actually, they didn't even give us a discount. They told us they didn't have the power to do anything and that the only thing we could do was cancel the order. They didn't even care that we were moving people across the country and that we had taken time off of work to arrange the move, or that we would have to delay a move that had been scheduled two months ahead of time. We ended up spending over $1,000 more than originally quoted but we had no choice but to pay more because of their bait and switch tactics. Be warned, the PODs themselves are great, but corporate customer service is a mess and they will not help you if you run into any difficulties or challenges.
