Overall my cross country move with Red Rover was not the smoothest. Pick up of the truck+16’ container was a nightmare. I got to the lot at around 9:15am and while testing the first truck we noticed the was defective (flashing white/yellow light and it didn’t move). Called support and waited for operation team to come on site. After 45 mins or so the operation manager Jim ended up just let me use another truck parked at the lot. This truck had both 16’ + 8’ containers on it and probably around 30-35’ long. It was extremely challenging to navigate NYC with it. TIP: You’ll need at least 3.5 cars worth of parking space to use it with ramp! I didn’t leave the lot until 11am with the 2nd truck (1.5hr wasted) since they had to swap my containers and etc. We ended up having to load the truck ourselves for the first leg of the move because the movers I booked had to bail on me as they have another job after mine (I was almost 1.5 hrs. late). Once we parked the truck and started to operate the ramp, it failed again! This time it was fully extended but in the upright position. I tried to retract by moving the ramp in upright position (per their YouTube video instruction) but It was able go vertical but it never retracted. Took another 45mins after calling support to get the operation manager (Jim) to come to me to fix the issue. The 2nd truck back up camera is also defective! Lucky I had someone with me to direct the traffic and help me back up the truck but it was extremely annoying and time consuming. After Jim and his helper arrived, they ended up just disconnected the senor under the ramp to bypass it. They were a life saver! If it wasn’t for them my entire move would’ve been cancelled. This delayed the 1st loading by another 2 hours. Luckily my 2nd movers were able to accommodate my appointment by 4 hrs at the 2nd leg. I reached out the Logistic Manager Steve during and after the entire ordeal. He offered to let me return the truck by 4am in the morning instead of 12am but realistically it was not all that useful. You probably shouldn’t be loading moving in middle of night in nyc Anyhow, I ended up finished and returned the truck by 11:30pm. I emailed Steve the day after the move asking if I can extend the unloading of the truck by 4 hrs instead. I recovered from herniated discs 6 months ago but still having some pains if I carry heavy items. He ended up only extended my unload time by 2hrs due to the drivers is only able to work 12 hrs. Luckily the unload portion of the cross-country move was smoother and the local movers I hired was able to unload entire 16’ containers in 2 hrs! All in all, the support was very responsive before and during the day of the move but in terms of getting direct contact to Ops mgr (Jim) was a bit challenging as the support couldn’t give his number to me. Jim however did provide me his number when he came to me to fix the 2nd truck. Operation team was a god send and If it wasn’t for them no way I would’ve been able to load the container. There’s a lot of room for improvement on the QA side. Although for unloaded I was able to unload everything with the allotted time, I feel it would’ve been fair if they extended the unload time. It would’ve been a nice gesture to approve my request or offer some discounts after the entire ordeal I went thru. 3/24/22 - UPDATE I reached out to Redrover Concierge team and provided my feedback as requested. Concierge manager Tom reach out to me to follow up on my feedback to them on how to improve on areas that didn't went well for me. He was able to also get my request for a small adjustment (~7%) reimbursed back to me for the ordeal I went thru. RedRover is still a young company and undoubtedly will have some growing pain, it is how they handle issues that will dictate if they’ll succeed in this moving/storage space. They have shown me that they are willing to listen and take my constructive feedback and learn from their mistake. Knowing that I would reuse them again!

Hi JC. Thank you for taking the time to leave a thorough review of your experience with Red Rover. We're sorry to hear that you experienced issues with our trucks during your pick up in Brooklyn. The icy weather around the time of your pick up presented our truck fleet in NY with a number of unexpected issues that we're working hard to address and have corrected once winter rolls around again. Our Operations Team in NY is world-class, and we're thrilled to hear that they were able to provide quick and efficient support with your ramp issues. Our Concierge Team did not hear back from you prior to the delivery in Texas, so if you'd like to speak with someone about your experience, please give us a call at 833-733-7683 and a manager will be happy to speak with you.

Red rover was an awesome solution while we were trying to clear some of our stuff out of the house for showing purposes. It was very easy to rent, truck was easy to drive and even when I had a small issue with the ramp (nothing that stopped me from moving) the response was quick, and customer service was great. Would absolutely recommend. Way cheaper than a pod, and saves room in your driveway!

      Response from the owner

Thanks for the 5 star review Jessica! We're glad to hear you had a great experience with Red Rover!

So this is a rare type of review because we did not actually use the service in the end. We massively underestimated how much stuff we had to move. We had 5bd/4ba (over 4000 sq ft) to move and we were forced to switch last minute to a semi truck mover. I am writing this review anyway because our experience with Red Rover was exceptional!! Always responsive and so professional in dealing with our hectic and crazy situation. Our house sold in 24 hours and we could not find another home in this insane market until the day before we had to move. John and Brandon were so thoughtful, helpful and kind in all of the 15 phone calls I made to them lol As far as value if you are military like us or doing a local move you can NOT beat the prices. PODS are ridiculously over priced, as is Uhaul and being that we've done at least 20 moves in our military career (all DITY) you are just another number to the big chains. Not so with Red Rovers. They took the time to listen and formulate an affordable quote right over the phone. I would HIGHLY recommend their services to anyone looking to move. I'm actually disappointed we didn't get the chance to use their service but I have no doubt it would've gone off without a hitch! (had we known better-this was all on us ;) Always shop around but I assure you that you won't find a company that offers the quality, value and professionalism of Red Rover. When it comes time to move both of my sons, they will be the first call I make. Thanks again to everyone at Red Rover for all your help=))

      Response from the owner

Wow! Thank you so much for the kinds words Sharon. We can't wait to work with you and your family in the future. Best of luck in your new home!
