Well, I didn't want to leave a one-star review, but I can't say I'm particularly shocked that it came to this. So: Training was top-notch. Lot of very friendly drivers, desk jockeys, and driver-trainers. Most of the dispatchers (fleet managers) were also a pleasure to work with. I chose to end my employment recently to move on to what I believe will be a better position for me; only time will tell. The only real reason I feel inclined to leave a one-star review is that I just found out I will not be getting paid for a bonus I earned in October. The pay here is so-so in general so any bonuses one can earn go a long way. You guys are a decent company, but with a few minor changes you could easily become one of the best out there. Thanks for a start in my trucking career. Like I said, there are many redeeming qualities to Roehl and very few things to dislike. The lack of payment for a bonus earned prior to quitting is a massive negative mark against you from me though.

To Roehl Transport, This letter reflects the decision I have made to leave Roehl. The first reason for leaving Roehl is because of the pay. I have consistently put in 70 hours a week for the last month, to only earn 600 to 700 dollars and at most 1300 on a good week. If we take 70 hours divided by 1000 dollars, we get an estimate of about 14.30 dollars an hour. There are other businesses who have a starting wage of 16 dollars an hour that does not require as much responsibility. The second reason I’ve decided to leave is because I value my time, meaning I do not work for free. Here is an example. I was completing a relay at Roehl terminal, and the load I picked up was secured incorrectly. I spent six hours securing the load correctly, but never got compensated for the time spent correcting someone else’s error even though I was on duty. I raise a question. Do people in Pay, Operation, Safety, etc. work 2 hours for free everyday? Is this a company standard for them too? When truck drivers are at a customers, there are 2 hours that are not paid. During those two hours, truckers can be unloading/loading or unstrapping/strapping for 2 hours before they get detention pay or receive any pay. In my opinion, there is no reason why Roehl can not compensate more for the two hours before detention pay starts, whether that driver is strapping, loading or sitting. When it comes to pay roehl transport does not pay. I submitted 53 hours of detention pay and they refused to pay me even tho its there policy. The third reason I am leaving is because of communication. An example of this is when my mileage rate decreased by four cents. I was not notified of the pay deduction and had to go out of my own way to figure out the reason for it. The situation was handled poorly and was very unprofessional.Yes, I made a mistake. For my mistake, I was penalized but it seems like when other people make mistakes they are not. For example, there were multiple times where my paychecks were incorrect. I had to call Pay and express that they made an error on my pay statement. Did they get penalized for making that error? No. If a company can penalize one person, in the same company, and not penalize someone else for a mistake, how is that fair for everyone? How come a deduction is not made for them? I should not have to continue to correct others’ errors. The final reason for leaving is Operations. There were times I asked for help, and did not receive an answer to the problem in a timely manner. An example of this is when I was traveling and had to apply chains to the truck’s tires. The chains that were provided were way too small. Aftering watching the provided videos and still not being able to put the chains on, after 3 hours, I called Operation. When I contacted them, they were not able to provide me with a solution. There was another time I called Operation for my securement photos, and after 30 minutes of no response, I called. The person who answered said, “Don’t be so impatient” and hung up. I personally feel they can handle situations more professionally and timely than they do. I appreciate everything Roehl has done for me and wish everyone the best. Thank you for providing me with this opportunity. Sincerely, Alexander Glocke
