  I'm not a fan of negative reviews, but feel I need to warn others about my experience. I called to get a quote from Josh at San Carlos movers and after going over all the details he gave me an hourly estimate and as soon as I was ready to schedule San Carlos Movers, Josh, raised the price by $50 per hour more. This was a little sketchy, so I decided to call around and get other bids, before scheduling them. I'm so glad I did, I found a 5 star, with 80 reviews moving company, and they charged half the hourly rate that San Carlos Movers were going to charge me. Pays to shop around.

  The company lead by Miguel was responsive and did a nice job in the actual efforts. The 3 man moving lead Juan was very helpful and professional... until it came time to pay. We paid cash to get the 7% discount. Juan overcharged us by 1 hour an extra $180 which I did not argue as it was not the time or place, my mistake was Juan did not provide a receipt for cash payment of $900. We then gave the team a $120 tip to say thanks for working hard, knowing that Juan had charged us for 5 hours, not the 4 hours they worked. I then called Miguel to dispute the overcharge. Miguel was gracious and claimed that Juan had lied to him about what I was charged and had supposedly Juan shorted Miguel the extra hour. Miguel claimed that Juan kept the $180 cash for overcharge and the $120 cash tip which Juan did tell him about. Miguel was very apologetic and claimed he would refund the overcharge to me as well as credit back the $300 deposit on my Visa that was required to book the moving event. I texted and called Miguel every week for 6 weeks, he has now changed his phone number. After 6 weeks I finally got my Visa deposit credited back as promised but I never heard or saw the $180 refund for the overcharge. I told Miguel I would write this review, he obviously did not care. This experience left us feeling violated and lied to, not a good feeling when these people are in your home and have access to all your belongings. Be careful, of your possessions, get receipts and stay on top of your credit back for your deposit if you pay cash. They are kind good people, they just have shaky business practices and ethics.
