  Our experience started off great. We felt very supported and informed about the moving process. We were assured that with our flexibility we could arrange for pick up and delivery within our desired window. Thankfully, we did not put any money down before moving forward. The next week we were told that to have our pick up date set the week we desired it would cost $1000 more for storage. In addition, the delivery date could not be guaranteed, despite moving to a building with set delivery times for elevator usage. When we expressed our concerns and said that we would prefer to move ourselves, we never heard another word from them. After many seamless moving experiences in the past, this one did not meet our standards.

  Shelter moved our home contents from their storage facility last week into our newly built home. They did a terrible job. We have brand new white carpet in our daughters bedroom. They failed to put down any floor protection. After tracking in mud the first time (by the foreman of the job named James) I pointed out the mud and warned them that they needed to remove their shoes or put on booties or protect the carpet with contact paper. About an hour later, same thing happened all over again. They also leaned large wooden crates up against newly painted woodwork. i had to use my own towels to put between the crates and the woodwork. They also dragged boxes across our new wood floors leaving scratches. They did not have the proper equipment to move a large heavy dining room table and had to borrow my own dolly. I got the sense that we didn't just get a bad moving crew but rather that Shelter Moving and Storage has a poor management/leadership team that doesn't instill professionalism and properly train their movers. Having lived overseas for 12 years we moved approximately 8 times. This was by far the worst experience we have had with a mover. They are also the only mover that doesn't ask for feedback on how they did. Which is why i am posting this review. I recently used 2 Men and a Truck to move some heavy pieces from a self storage container. They were far more professional and conscientious than Shelter and also less expensive. And yes they are eager for feedback in fact the crew's bonus is based on the customers feedback. Much more in the times than Shelter which seems to be an old school company.

  Not at all impressed with them. I asked for a free quote using their online system. Instead they sent an email telling me what to do. Yes, you heard me right, their email said in big bold red letters that I should UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DEAL WITH ANY OTHER MOVING COMPANIES. What happened to selling yourself instead of trying to trash everyone else or scare people?
