UPDATE: Just got an email about how they supposedly ‘reweighed’ my shipment, and apparently 600 pounds showed up from now where making me bust my weight limit. There is noooo way this is even possible considering they ‘reweighed’ it 2 days after my shipment was delivered. Again, if you’re military run FAR AWAY!!!! The absolute WORST move we’ve had in the military. When we arrived at our new home and our shipment was delivered, our $4,000 couch was damaged, our $3,000 bed was damaged, and a crucial part to our bed was no where to be found (we own a sleep number). Are we able to get compensation? WHO KNOWS, because they told us the only items they allowed on the high value list was electronics, which we told them was absolutely not correct. They packed every box with the most random items, nothing written on the boxes was correct. We will 100% be filing a claim and fighting for compensation because this is unacceptable. If you are military and this is your moving company, request a change immediately.

    Response from the owner

We are sorry that you were less than totally satisfied with your recent relocation, and are certain that any claim that you may file will be handled in accordance with the DPS rules and regulations regardless of what is and is not listed on the high value inventory. The high value inventory should be used for items that are valued at $100.00 or more per pound. If any assistance is needed, please feel free to reach out to us and we will be happy to assist.

Six years ago A-1 Horton packed up my household goods for non-temporary storage. Last week those items were returned to me. From the first time I spoke with Loretta until her team left I had an excellent experience. Loretta walked me through the process of reclaiming my things and professionally answered my questions during several phone calls. The delivery crew was also excellent! A chair with a broken arm was the only issue so far. They immediately apologized and at the end of the delivery documented the problem and have promised to send a. repairman.

    Response from the owner

Ms. Kimball Hood, We are so happy that you were pleased with the services provided from start to finish. We also apologize for the damage to the chair. Please contact us for the filing of a claim so that we may process. We'll see you again in October to deliver your second shipment.

If I could give this company 0 stars, then I would do that. Let’s start by saying my delivery could not be completed until approximately 30 days after the requested date, which is way past the timeline the military requires for delivery. Every time I called this company there has been a female whom has answered and she always has an attitude. The day they came to deliver my items, my husband and I were unavailable (I had to Go back to my military job in NJ to finish my contract), so our aunt was present for the delivery and the moving crew told her they were done after about 3-4 hours of labor. There were only two guys and the only thing they did were bring the boxes in (Most in the wrong room) and assemble a toddler bed, crib, and partially assemble my King size bed (it was broken when arrived). She signed the paperwork and she didn’t sign the section waiving the unpacking of boxes and removal of debris. I called the company that hired them and A1 Horton refused to come back out stating the paperwork had been signed. The lady I called today told me this paperwork signature is not a requirement and it would not hold up in court. I will make sure this company is blacklisted for military moves and that they pay for such bad service.

    Response from the owner

Ms. Thomas. First, your Aunt had no idea where anything in the home was to be placed; however, the crew placed the items, including boxes in the rooms that they were instructed to place them into. Additionally, the only request that your husband made was that the washer and dryer be connected, which movers do not do, and this can be verified with the military transportation office. Unpacking was not requested, and that may very well be because your Aunt had to leave (to pick up children) and was told by your husband (crew was told Mr. Thomas) to sign the paperwork as the job was complete and nothing else needed to be done. The broken headboard was broken inside of the shipping containers. This service was not performed by our company, but rather, by the origin agent. Our crew did; however, make sure to assemble the bed so that it could be used. Again, we did not cause this damage. As far as the delivery time frame, your shipment was moved in containers rather than loose. This was not our choosing, but rather, the TSP responsible for your shipment. This method of movement only slows down delivery and increases claims. We totally agree, this is not the best method for moving household goods when customers are ready for delivery, but again, we are the destination agent only. We'd love for you to contact the Military transportation office and advise them of the delays this type of shipping causes as we'd certainly like to see less of it. As far as "attitude" is concerned, we're sorry that you feel we have an "attitude", but perhaps our shock at your request for us to "refund" monies to you that you did not pay (your move was paid for by the government) took us a little bit by surprise. Please feel free to contact the Quality Control Department at Fort Stewart or JPPSO SE if you wish to lodge a complaint. Fort Stewart Quality Control may be reached at 912-767-4211 or 912-767-8064.
