  I called them because they said they had experience with antique pianos. The first time they came out...they tuned my piano and broke a string. I had 2 keys that were not playing...one was sticking and the other was due to the strings having been broken by a prior tuner and never replaced. A repair price was listed. The repairs were done but now...instead of 1 key sticking....I have two keys that stick..to each other. They never stuck before and the sticky key from before.....still sticks off and on. The key with the strings works....most of the time. And when re-tuning the piano again this winter.....another string broken by the tuner, which has yet to be replaced. Meanwhile, he keeps telling me how worthless my piano is and that I should buy a different one from them and use this one as a trade in, and that pianos like mine can't be kept up. However, I have done the research on my piano, and its maker, Mathushek and the age of my piano, and gotten information from a museum expert on Mathushek pianos...and none of what the tuner has said is true about this particular brand of piano.... I am now looking for a new tuner who actually has the best interest of the owner and piano at heart rather than trying to get their hands on a fairly rare piano to restore and sell for a large sum.

  I have experience with Taylor Piano over the last 25 years, both father and now son, partially residential for a Kawai Studio, and more recently for the past 14+ years at work (church facility) for two baby grands (Baldwin and Young Chang). The action on the YC was recently rebuilt by Barry Taylor. We remain very pleased with Barry’s work; he has always been responsive to any needs or issues. He continues with the very respectable, professional, and competent legacy of the Taylor family. We highly recommend him as a piano technician, for tuning, repair, restorations, and acquisitions.

  Taylor Piano Restorations has served us very well over the years. In selecting a piano for personal use, Barry Taylor found a piano that was exactly right for our family's needs. It has been very serviceable through both adult use and children's lessons. In addition, Barry rebuilt the Steinway & Sons Grand Model B at my place of work and has held the contract for tuning that piano.
