We initially incorporated (5) large pieces of furniture into the estimate request...to be on the safe side. Even with a full dresser, tables, and a full-size wood-framed futon NOT PRESENT upon pickup the initial quote was over $500 less than what we were charged. They got there a day late to pick up, and stated that it would be between 7 and 21 days for my things to arrive. Service was terrible every time I tried to get an update, and the first time they said that my things were in route and they couldn't tell me exactly where they were. I called (2) weeks later to be told that they were still in their Indiana warehouse, and that they didn't have enough people to get the job done yet. I was displeased at best, but my hands were tied. When booked they gave us the whole song and dance about how they didn't outsource, had their own fleet, would assemble and disassemble all, would give ample notice, etc.. When I called back to hear that my things had yet to depart I let them know that there were (2) upcoming dates that I would have to be out of town, and would not be able to receive what was now my very late shipment. They attempted to justify the lack of timeliness by adding the phrase "business days" (not initially stated, and quite frankly what does that mean for movers...doesn't this most often occur on the weekend?). Again, hands tied. Of course they called a day in advance of the second unavailable date I had shared with them to say they would be there that day between 6 and 7 pm. It would be tight, but I said I could be back by then. Got back to the house at 5:15 to no one. Neighbors said they came at 2. They arrived again at 7 pm in a Penske, had me pay prior to delivery as stated in the agreement, and told me to make the check out to Geo Van Lines. What?! But again, what can I do? They would only take cash or money orders (shady), and said I had to walk with them and check off all of the items. They couldn't find the hole for the bolt to a bed-frame (don't worry fellas, I got it), and left my patio set in a pile on my porch. Those were the only two large items I had - all else were boxes. Four hours later they said they were done, and there were (7) boxes and (1) picture missing. They told me sorry, and said I needed to call my company. WHY DID I HAVE TO WORK FOR FREE FOR FOUR HOURS FOR THAT?! Also....some of my plastic crates were demolished, there was broken glass in three of the crushed boxes, and they left someone else's things sitting on the curb in the pouring Houston rain all that time. I have posted pictures below for the owner to be able to identify it. Now I have to find an attorney for the thousands of dollars of personal belongings lost, and they haven't answered the phone in a week. I also received a black wicker basket that isn't mine. Relocating is hard enough without Alliances ill-assistance. Spare yourself and rent a POD or a UHaul.

I've lived in Chicago for six years and I suppose it's about time I have a bad moving experience. I booked Alliance for a simple move from a 600 sq foot 1BR to a 3BR right outside the city. Given the small size of things to move, I was given a quote estimate of ~$660. The movers show up and say it's going to take much more time and run me well over a ~$1100. I think, okay, nothing I can do about this, at least I am paying for a high quality moving service. Far from it. Where do I start? A $200 mirror frame was broken (which the movers attempted to hide by placing it on its side -- when I discovered it they said to each other "that must have happened when we dropped it"). My couch and bed frame were clearly placed in the dirt and have stains I have been unable to remove. Feeling concerned about these items, I decided to do a more thorough inspection of my belongings. That's when I noticed all my prescription drugs were missing. The bottles were left emptied out. My personal belongings were clearly searched through. Pockets were left completely emptied. But it doesn't stop there! I get a call from my former apartment complex saying paintings, TV mounts, and curtains were left on the walls. I would be charged for the time they spent removing those items, that I of course wanted and had given clear instructions to remove and bring with us. (Why would any mover assume you want anything left behind?) So, life happens. I call Alliance, and a customer service agent named Tiffany responds and is very helpful and sensitive to my concerns of my missing and damaged items. She is a wonderful employee and let's me know her supervisor will be in touch with me. Four days later I hear from the supervisor. Not even pretending to take my issues seriously he states flatly that they've "never had this problem before" and he'll "talk to [his] guys about [my] missing stuff" but "[his] guys don't steal." And I "should have known" they'd leave behind anything on the walls because if they damage the walls they'd be liable so they don't take things off walls (?! who would book that service?!). Meanwhile, I'm filing a police report so I can get a refill for the medication they stole. Clearly once you book with Alliance you are at their mercy every step of the way. There are so many better services out there that will value your business (i.e. Professional Movers) that I would have booked had they had availability. Avoid this company.

While researching other relocation companies to help me with my move, I found Alliance Movers to be the most ideal for me. They seemed to be very professional and trustworthy. When they arrived at my old house, I realized that my opinion of them had been correct. When the crew arrived, they were extremely professional and considerate. They treated my personal belongings with extreme care and made sure to move everything-- they didn't allow me to lift a finger. I had been so stressed out about this move and was nervous about someone in my home with my antiques and expensive furniture. They made the move so easy and smooth. They handled my antiques like pros and moved the big furniture like it didn't weigh anything. I recommend Alliance Movers to anyone looking for a seamless, stress-free move.
