We contracted North American Van Lines (the other name First Class uses for business) for our family’s third cross-country move. They seemed great at first, our sales rep was a great communicator and made us feel very comfortable with our decision to hire them. However, things started to go downhill once the move was actually in progress. The movers left quite a bit of trash in our house after loading up the truck, which was annoying, but we cleaned up after them. But when our truck got to the final destination, on day 2 of the 6 day delivery window we were given, we were never updated on when it would be delivered. After contacting customer service ourselves, we found out that the local company responsible for delivering our items didn’t have any deliveries available for a week past our delivery window. It took 4 days, multiple calls and emails that did not receive responses, before we were finally able to speak to someone at the local delivery company, First Class Movers, who said they “understand an early delivery would be preferable, however it is just not possible”. And by “early” they mean after our contracted delivery window. Despite positive reviews and recommendations I found when researching, it appears North American Van Lines is simply the name a lot of smaller delivery companies do business as and they do not actually handle your entire move. Our contact in our state of origin was from a different company and has nothing to do with First Class. The communication is absolutely terrible/non-existent, customer service is completely useless and just gives you the run around to people who won’t respond. As of this review, we are on the last day of our original delivery window and aren’t expected to receive it for another week. We don’t know where our items are, how they are being stored, if they’re being compromised in a hot truck for several weeks, or when we will for sure receive them. Oh, and the delayed delivery compensation for a $25k move is $100/day after the delivery window. Which isn’t even close to reasonable for not having any of your life’s belongings and the incredible amount of stress and frustration caused by this company’s lack of professionalism and competency.

Kirsten, we are sorry that your experience didn't go as expected. First Class is an agent for NorthAmerican van lines. For your shipment, we are the destination agent selected for delivery. We do our best to delivery as soon as shipments come in. At the time of arrival we did not have availability until 3/15 and our customer service team did advise you as as well as the booking agent responsible for all communication with you. Our team also advised Mr. Otto that we would notify him if any cancellations came in. On 3/8 we had a cancellation for 3/9 and contacted Mr. Otto and delivered on 3/9. What else could we have done better to assist you?

I've moved several times and First Class Moving and Storage was by far the worst experience I've ever had. I barely received any communication from them and had to call to ask if they wanted me to pay for my move. Then I was told that the movers would arrive between 7am-9am. They didn't arrive until after 3pm. I was then told my stuff could arrive at the new location anywhere from 2-14 days. I asked if there was any way to tell which end of the timeline it would be closer to. They told me they had no clue. I raced up to my new town just in case it was closer to the 2 day part of the window. After a day on the road, I was told they had no driver for my stuff and I "shouldn't expect it any time soon." After that *I* had to call them ever single day for an update. Even when they said they'd call back with an update, they didn't. The fourteen day window passed and they still had no driver for my stuff. Then they had a driver but he had trouble loading. Then the truck "broke down on the side of the highway & they couldn't communicate with the driver and had no way to reach him." It was only after almost a month, telling them I'd contact the police AND a representative from another family whose stuff was also on the truck started getting all of us together that our driver was miraculously located and our stuff delivered. Turns out they lied and shoved all of our stuff into storage. My boxes arrived looking like someone took a baseball bat to them. Multiple fragile items including dishes and my Dyson vacuum. Use anyone but First Class Moving and Storage--they lie, they don't answer their phone and they'll tell you that they aren't responsible for your stuff once it gets on the road.

Hey Jill M so sorry to hear your experience wasn't awesome. I am showing your shipment happened in 7/2021 moving from FL to Upstate NY. A delivery spread is given on all shipments as trucks are routed for efficiency. Unfortunately, it is true that a driver wasn't assigned as quickly as we prefer with corporate dispatch due to the shortages of drivers and the overwhelming busy season that the entire trucking industry felt because of the pandemic. The truck did breakdown which is not something we can foresee, causing the additional delay. From the audit of your file, I am showing that two coordinators kept you up to date via phone calls and emails. Delivery happened 14 days past your original delivery spread and you were paid a delay claim. You also filed a claim for damaged items and a claim settlement was paid out to you as a goodwill. The items you claimed for damage were items that you packed not our crew and normally are not covered as part of valuation of any shipment. Please contact us if you would like to speak further on this matter.

The driver Shawn, was very professional and watched over and directed his crew efficiently. His crew was adequate for the amount of furniture and boxes we had to move. The unloading crew were great as well. My white leather couches and case goods were wrapped well and arrived undamaged. I did, however find a couple of broken things that I packed and a wooden cutting table that I use for cutting fabric had damage to the top and my cutting mat was damaged so I have to replace them. They must have put something really heavy on top. That being said, we were really happy with them and found them to be the most professional and best priced movers we have ever had. I would definitely recommend them.
