We contracted North American Van Lines for our family’s third cross-country move. They seemed great at first, our sales rep was a great communicator and made us feel very comfortable with our decision to hire them. However, things started to go downhill once the move was actually in progress. The movers left quite a bit of trash in our house after loading up the truck, which was annoying, but we cleaned up after them. But when our truck got to the final destination, on day 2 of the 6 day delivery window we were given, we were never updated on when it would be delivered. After contacting customer service ourselves, we found out that the local company responsible for delivering our items didn’t have any deliveries available for a week past our delivery window. It took 4 days, multiple calls and emails that did not receive responses, before we were finally able to speak to someone at the local delivery company, First Class Movers, who said they “understand an early delivery would be preferable, however it is just not possible”. And by “early” they mean after our contracted delivery window. Despite positive reviews and recommendations I found when researching, it appears North American Van Lines is simply the name a lot of smaller delivery companies do business as and they do not actually handle your entire move. Our contact in our state of origin was from a different company and has nothing to do with the moving company in our destination city. The communication is absolutely terrible/non-existent, customer service is completely useless and just gives you the run around to people who won’t respond. As of this review, we are on the last day of our original delivery window and aren’t expected to receive it for another week. We don’t know where our items are, how they are being stored, if they’re being compromised in a hot truck for several weeks, or when we will for sure receive them. Oh, and the delayed delivery compensation for a $25k move is $100/day after the delivery window. Which isn’t even close to reasonable for not having any of your life’s belongings and the incredible amount of stress and frustration caused by this company’s lack of professionalism and incompetency.

Awful experience. Moved our contracted move out date a day later pushing us harder to be out by closing. Movers arrived, loaded the truck and all our belongings did not fit. Said they could come back the next morning for the rest...closing day... I asked the new owners if that was OK, they agreed...movers didn't pick up the remainder until 2 days following. I could never get a return phone call from our move coordinator. Truck arrives at our new home 4 days later and one of the movers comes in and immediately says...ah hell no! Stairs? I got to have some more money... And went out to talk to the driver. About half the items that were supposed to go upstairs were left in the garage. None of the beds or other furniture were put back together. They cracked our Big Green Egg and lost our $350 brand new extension ladder and brackets for our adjustable bed. I've let my point of contact with North American know all this and his only response is... he'll let operations know, he'll move it higher up...not one response from North American. $5300+ run around ...and we tipped the movers and driver on both ends. Save yourself some money and headache and do not use this company.

A quarter of our belongings did not fit on the moving truck so they put those items in storage and we were told they would deliver still within our contracted time frame. That did not happen. The items were delivered two weeks after our contracted time frame (and a boxspring for our queen bed was broken). Our coordinator was rude, snippy, and completely unprofessional. NA Van Lines demanded we pay 100% before they would deliver our things, even though we weren't receiving 100% of our belongings. They did not credit us anything. Absolutely, positively would not recommend them to anyone!
