Everything beyond the quote was terrible with this moving company. Initially the movers kept having to change the time they would pick up my items from the house I was living in. Then once the day the mover told me they would deliver my things to the new residence no one came. I had to call customer service and after waiting for someone to finally pick up I was on hold again for 20 mins before I was disconnected. Then the mover called me out of the blue and said they would be there in 3 hours. So I had to run around trying to get access to the freight elevator at the last minute. Once there, the movers did not have any respect or care for my things, which could be seen upon delivery. Many of my totes (which I had bought instead of boxes because of the durability) were broken, bent, missing handles and clasps. My couch legs were broken as were many of my dishes and frames (which were all marked fragile and packed with extra care by me). While moving the items into the residences I had to ask them multiple times to not drag sharp ends across the hardwood floors and there are still marks all over it. Additionally I need to get the weight ticket and I cannot get a hold of anyone on the phone, email, or their website messenger. This was the worst moving experience I've ever had. I will be moving on my own from now on and just hire people to help me load and unload with close supervision.

8/27/17- Move from VA to FL Michael, Sr. Consultant for Affordable Movers told me more lies than I can recount. The most egregious of them all being that he promised the price was guaranteed and absolutely would not change. He said "unless we surprised them with a hot tub, the estimate was binding and would stay them same". He even went so far as to say his quote was "over estimated by 5%" to leave extra room for more items. Last Wednesday, I told him we had over 50 boxes and were still packing and were taking an extra chest of drawers and love seat. He assured me this would not impact the cost but that he would write it down. However, he did not inform the drivers. When the movers arrived, they said the estimate was wrong and that we now owe $5,649 which is over double the estimate ($2550). This is completely unacceptable. We were stuck because we had to move so we had no other choice than to agree to the new terms. We were basically at their mercy with no one to call and no way to resolve it. Michael promised to be available on Saturday 8/19/17 during our move for precisely this reason. He said he would call and check on us during the move. He said he would "see the move through start to finish." However, on the day of the move, he was not available by phone, email or text and did not return my call or call on his own. This was very concerning because the move was not going as promised. I felt completely abandoned and taken advantage of. He promised to handle any issues that came up on the day of the move. Over a week later and still no call or email from him. Furthermore, we were not given any communication from the company as to where our items were. I had to call every day to find out. The "track shipment" on the website does not actually work. Another lie. Finally, when our items were being picked up the driver's helper followed me to my car and pressured me for a 15% tip and said he'd "take care of us if we take care of him" and said "he doesn't get paid by the company but that tips is how he eats". He made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I felt in danger. My husband did give him and the driver a tip because to be honest we were frightened for our safety. When they opened the tip, they complained and said it was not enough and said they have a "harder job than the people unloading the items so they should be tipped more". That is so unprofessional and inappropriate. And to top it off, the movers left two holes in our wall. I called to tell the mover and he told me to fix it myself. On 8/21/17 Megan, customer service rep, heard my story and admitted it was awful and that Michael lied and that the mover was inappropriate. She promised a discount and to call me back. I'm still waiting for that call. This company made an already stressful experience completely awful. Thankfully our items did arrive on 8/27/17 however there was some damage to our items and home. The drivers who did the delivery were very good. They acted professionally. I appreciate their hard work and honesty. However they were forced by their superiors to unload someone else's items into our garage so they could get to our belongings. This caused an extra hour of time. Not to mention, how unprofessional it is of a company to unload someone else's belongings into my garage. We have since found several of our items to be broken and are missing a bookshelf. The best part- they call themselves affordable movers and yet they ended up costing us more than even the highest estimate we received!

If I could give negative stars, I would. Where do I even start with this company? My boyfriend and I had scheduled a long-distance move for my stuff from IL to FL on 7/31/17. My boyfriend was told by Sr. Consultant, Michael (who apparently no longer exists once he makes your contract), about prices and what would be owed when. My boyfriend paid the first deposit, no issue. When it came to my stuff being picked up, I was the present for the movers. I had a bank check ready for what we were told would be the second deposit. But all of a sudden, the price became THREE TIMES what we were originally told- because of the size of the room my belongs were in. I could've easily moved my things to a smaller room, what difference does that make? We were originally supposed to pay around $500. In order for my stuff to be moved, because I had no other option at that point, I ended up paying $1,900!!! During this moving-out process, Michael event contacted my boyfriend and I reassuring us everything would be okay, yada yada yada, yet nothing changed. My belongings were scheduled to be delivered on 8/11/17, they were finally delivered on 8/19/17, after countless phone calls asking when because God-forbid their tracking work on the website. The move-in went relatively smoothly, price was actually what we were told originally. Some of my boxes of belongings look like they had taken a beating, some things were broken, AND I AM MISSING A COUPLE THINGS. The movers actually had a dresser as part of my load which wasn't even mine.... I am now dealing with TRYING to file a claim for my damaged/missing items, which surprise surprise, is another hassle. What a horrific, morally incompetent, joke of a company. I have certainly learned from this experience. STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.
